This is the first vehicle I've had PPF'd and have noticed a few issues now that I've been driving the car for a month or so and have done a couple hand washes. Wondering if these are par for the course or if I should reach out to my installer to have them correct these. I'm a little surprised because I had the install done at a very reputable shop here in Colorado with stellar reviews. All edges were supposed to be wrapped, at least to the best of their ability. I'm hoping they'll go above and beyond to make things right, but figured I'd get a sanity check here before I make a mountain out of a molehill. See photos and descriptions below. Am I crazy or are these unacceptable?

Bottom corner of driver's side fender (behind aero slot) showing dirt and peeling.

This is the ppf on the charger door (right side of photo). Dumbfounded that the charger door wasn't fully wrapped give that it pops out.

This is an edge above the passenger's side wheel well. Seems like it would be tricky to wrap but it is showing dirt and peeling.

Rivian R1T R1S PPF Sanity Check IMG-3310

Front corner of passenger's side fender showing dirt and peeling. Was never fully wrapped and it seems like an easy one to do.

Passenger's side fender behind the aero slot, peeling and showing dirt.

Mirrors were only partially covered, inside half was left bare. Is this normal based on others' experiences?

This isn't an edge wrap at all unfortunately. Looks like the shop used standard cut outs, which I think are based on computer scans of the vehicle. I could be getting this backwards but if you look at the Xpel screen shot below, there are two options from Xpel:

OEM PPF Package
Standard XPEL Coverage

I believe the OEM PPF Package is what Rivian and Xpel developed together. They're currently doing the front end only package as a factory option. I think the logo cutouts are more precise in the OEM package and some edge wrapping might be possible.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure you got "Standard XPEL" coverage (or equivalent) if this is not XPEL film. Regardless, the peeling is poor installation. Take it back to the shop. If they are truly reputable, they'll make it right. Should be covered under their warranty.

Unfortunately that is a subpar PPF job....

Is it warranted? Mine cost an arm and a leg, but it's warranted for life.

It does come with a warranty but this first pass doesn't inspire a ton of confidence that they'll do a great job the 2nd time around.

Appreciate the initial reponses - definitely going to reach out to the installer.

I'm particularly curious to hear from others who have had their side mirrors done if they got the same treatment mine did or if they were fully covered. FWIW - this was SunTek Reaction film, not XPEL.

Its very important that you specify you want the edges wrapped the next time around (even if it costs a little extra). A little bit of edge delamination is normal (My ppf job was done very well but still had one of the side mirror edges delaminate). The installer should fix this.

Yeah, I paid an arm and a leg, and while I have a few spots peeling with dust under them where it wasn't wrapped (top of lightbar and top of tailgate in particular), this is 10x worse than anything on mine. I'd raise a stink. Remember that these places are generally low volume high cost establishments and there typically isn't a lot of competition; reviews mean a lot to them.

If you didn't specify wrapped corners that's one thing, but it should not be peeling like that at all, wrapped corners or not. These places rely heavily on word of mouth and reviews. Bring it to them and respectfully ask them to fix it. They can do better if they have that many good reviews. They will make it right.

To be clear, the package I purchased included "All of the edges will be wrapped" and when I first took it in they explained that all edges would be wrapped, within reason. Wish I had inspected it closer when I first got it back but the dirty edges have really highlighted what a poor job they did. Makes me think it was probably their first R1T given the poor coverage on the charging port door.

Given they charge close to 10x material costs, they can replace the PPF. Just make sure they are not cutting the PPF on the car. May be not all of them do, but looking at the quality, I would be worried. Else you can have cuts on the paint.

It feels like my charge door had factory PPF done very well. It's on so well, I could tell it's on there based on how it is to touch. I wonder why they had to do it again on the charge door.

PS: I am applying DIY PPF. Did the front lights so far. Bumper, tailgate should be done this week. It won't be perfect, but should look about the same as yours. I don't want to spend 3-4k on it right now.

Only thing I can add, my mirrors were only partially wrapped at the place I went as well. Made me wonder if they were using a Rivian template for the mirrors.

Does the charge port door come PPF'd from the factory? I can't remember and couldn't find anything with a quick search. If so, that one is not my installer's fault as they weren't going to re-do any film.
