Yesterday, I began a post sharing videos of the internal noise my AC was making. Today, I wanted to create a new thread to showcase videos highlighting the exterior noise level of my R1S. Some people have compared it to the sound of a loud weed eater. When we first got the vehicle, it would turn heads in parking lots because no one had ever seen an R1S before. However, now heads turn not out of curiosity, but rather due to the abnormal noise it emits. My frustration with the Dallas service center has reached its peak. Despite taking the vehicle in twice for this issue, they insist that it's normal. What was once an intermittent problem has now become a nearly constant nuisance. My wife has even resorted to driving my car instead, leaving the R1S at home due to the sheer embarrassment it brings. Are there any others who have encountered a similar issue? If so, has it progressed from being intermittent to constant in your experience?

If Dallas SC won't do anything, time to start looking into Lemon Law?

Let's narrow this down a bit - AC vs suspension air compressor:
- Does it do this with the AC off?
- Try changing the ride height from low to high. Does the suspension change height quickly?

I believe some people have had this noise and it was the suspension air compressor, caused by a leak.

The noise disappears when you turn off the AC. My wife is starting to turn off the AC when she enters parking lots or pulls up to someone's home.

I always drive in standard height so I haven't experimented with different ride heights. I'll try that tonight and report back.

Mobile service is going look at mine on 7/11. The sound of mine is very similar, and recently I’ve been in 2 different trucks that don’t make the noise, so there is hope.

That is ridiculous. I had mentioned that ours did it a few times after a fast charge and I chalked it up to cooling the battery. Inside the cabin it was crazy loud. My wife was like wtf when it kicked on like that but I assured here it was just because of the fast charge, etc.

I wouldn't continue to drive it as the noise inside is literally distracting when driving. Only good news is it seems like it's "stuck" in a certain mode and maybe will completely fail soon.

My service experience at the factory service center was less than optimal (they didn't fix anything) so good luck!

My car just started making this noise and shuts off after like 2 min.
That is how mine started. It went from intermittent to almost constant. I think the weather is a major factor. Temps are 90+ daily in Texas this time of year.

our T does NOT make that sound and if it did, I would assume something was broken. It has a high pitch element to it that I haven’t heard before, even on the old software versions when the BMS would sound like a jet engine on a hot day. I would also suggest leaving the vents on but turning off the AC (fans only) to see if it could be your AC compressor.

Its like 80F here but in the sun it happens so I think its definitely doing something related to high heat scenarios. Ill try and test today.

I have never heard my car from the outside, but every now and then, I'll get a loud humming sound while driving with the AC on. It goes away if I turn off the AC for a few seconds and turn it back on. Very odd.

I agree that's totally not normal especially after driving the car for a while. My old Tesla would do that on a really hot day for a few minutes at start up, but it would never continue after the car started to cool down. My R1T has never done that.
