They said the AC compressor noise isn't an issue so why would they issue a fix.

I'm hoping this helps me avoid having to manually lower amperage each time I plug up at my campsite. Wiring was done in a way where the underground cable from the park's main panel slot for my spot trips *before* my spot's own 50A breaker trips. Running even at 30A charging heats everything up enough (even the park main slot breaker ? ) to trip it. I've been dropping it to 28A to avoid that.
That sounds like a problem with your campsite's electrical. 30A on a 50A breaker shouldn't trip it ever. If the breaker is heating enough to trip, that's not because of heat being generated on the Rivian end ... The Rivian portable charger only draws 32A max, which is well below what a code-compliant circuit with a NEMA 14-50 outlet is rated for.

Oh I agree... just hoping the heat monitoring behavior feature might mitigate things for me.

Most likely it's heating at the connector on the vehicle that they are concerned about, not the plug for the input on the EVSE. Fairly certain they don't have visibility of that in the truck, even the Rivian portable.

Yep... Jplug handle was noticeably warm each trip too.

I read the first post, I still don't see an acknowledgement the AC compressor is an issue and will be fixed. Am I missing something?
An R1?

Same exact issue for me. Unfortunately scheduling through the car has been extremely unreliable, oftentimes not starting at all, so I continue to schedule through my charger (juicebox)
Just in case you're referring to my post, I'm not having any issue whatsoever. Just an observation about the red light/"Vehicle Error" when you connect to a dead (to the vehicle) EVSE. My R1T charge scheduling has been flawless throughout ownership. I only changed it to play with the new EVSE capabilities, which are frankly unnecessary since the EVs handle all the important aspects anyway.

This is what you wrote, with the first part in bold being an assertion I’m addressing by providing information from another forum member:
They said the AC compressor noise isn't an issue so why would they issue a fix.
Here’s where someone heard from a Rivian employee that it IS an issue in the very first post and one further down:
… I received a call from the Rivian Southwest territory manager. During our conversation, she acknowledged the widespread issue with AC motor noise in the R1S that occurs in hot weather. …
… I posted new today because I felt the call w/ Rivian last night was new news since they finally admit the issue exists. …
The first part of your statement (in bold below) is incorrect, so the rest is invalidated:
They said the AC compressor noise isn't an issue so why would they issue a fix.
Does this help?

edit:formatting issue

I can’t charge at home. I get the vehicle error on my app and red light around the charging port.
Over the past week I’ve had this happen 3 times to my May 2022 T when using my Rivian wall charger at home, as well as charger feeling very warm.

I raised a service ticket. They came back saying it was a known issue with 2023.22.0 affecting a very small number of owners. There will be an update rolled out in the next week to address, and in the meantime asked me to drop from 48A to 32A when charging at home.

No, because Rivian still hasn't stated it will be fixed.

I wouldn’t jump to conclusions yet…Until there’s an official, written response about this, it’s all hearsay or anecdotal at best. I’m not doubting it, but we don’t even have proof this person even talked to Rivian at all.

I want them to acknowledge it as much as the next person, but until there’s an official statement, they haven’t agreed with anything.

No, because Rivian still hasn't stated it will be fixed.
Given that I quoted text from a forum member who spoke to a Rivian employee, “I received a call from the Rivian Southwest territory manager. During our conversation, she acknowledged the widespread issue with AC motor noise in the R1S that occurs in hot weather. …” and, “… I posted new today because I felt the call w/ Rivian last night was new news since they finally admit the issue exists. …”

What would satisfy you? Are you requiring a press release, an email from Rivian directly to you, or tweet from RJ?
