I work in Fremont....2 miles from the Tesla plant.....the nearest MAGIC DOCKING station is 40+ miles away....in Santa Cruz. In the bay area there is probably 1 to 2 thousand Tesla stations...because the Teslas are everywhere....you would think they would want to acid test the Magic Docks in a real-world, everyday scenario....and not some station 40+ miles away that might get 20, 30 charges a day

Not entirely sure what their strategy is there.

Imagine they might have chosen stations with less traffic intentionally so minimize impact on Tesla drivers. The Scotts Valley station is nice and spaced out...well suited to accommodate the crazy parking requirements to charge some CCS1 vehicles.

I hope they do rollout to more dense locations though, yes, it will be really interesting to see how their power electronics handle the concurrent demand from several trucks with relatively sustained high charge curves. I guess we won't see that until the connector is liberated from the 350A constraint though. Sure hope that is the case for the Rivian adapter.

can Tesla’s charge at a magic dock? Seems like they should but also seems like sticky fingers/forgetfulness may prevail?!

The dock fits overtop of the NACS connector, and I'm pretty sure it's all locked together so someone can't steal it. Once it's back in the supercharger it would disconnect and allow an NACS connection again.

You can see it in action here:

Wow I didn’t think Tesla would be installing magic docks after the agreements with using nacs. Guess I was wrong. Happy I was though.

I'm sure they are installing them at locations that will give them favorable tax credits.

As much as it pains me to put money in Elon’s pocket, I really can’t wait for Colorado Superchargers to get the Magic Dock.

Last weekend, I was hoping to top off at the EA chargers in Castle Rock, CO but all were occupied. Fortunately I didn’t really need the charge so I just continued on. The day before I stopped at the ChargePoint in Georgetown. Was able to start charging immediately but there were three other EVs there so my charger was only delivering ~50kW at the time. Fortunately, 10 minutes in and one of the VWs left. My charge rate jumped to 156kW.

Tesla is just superior to everyone else. As long as a charger is open, you know you’re going to get consistent service. I’ve got my fingers crossed that the new Superchargers going in at Bucee’s will have magic docks. Bucee’s is the perfect situation for charging. You have a lot you can do while waiting on your car to top up.

No way, the congestion is terrible where you are. They don't want to make it worse.

yeah, I see your point. Once the car companies start implementing the NACS, it will get interesting.

If the superchargers will be .45/kWh, I’ll never use EA again.

I think this will forceEA,EVgo, etc to up their networks substantially.

DFW. They shut it down at 5 PM.

In the app in shows 10 minute wait and all 16 stalls are being used.

Those are not good plug share reviews. Where is the outrage, thought they were supposed to be perfect with never a problem?
