I got the latest update and notice the speed limit signs are not popping up after I pass them. Any one have this issue?
NEVER depend upon the Rivian navigation for speed limits nor traffic info. Ever since I got my R1S I've always used Waze via my phone along w/ the Rivian Navigation and can safely report that as far as speed limits, Waze is 100% correct while Rivian is maybe 90% correct.

Recommended routing based upon current traffic conditions isn't even close!

Until RJ wakes the hell up and gives us Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, I'll be using Waze via my Android as my primary navigator, since it's the BEST navigation experience BY FAR!

RJ claiming that it's due to Rivian being deliver the best *customer experience* is an insult to EVERYONE'S intelligence. We all know it's about monetization. SMH <rant/>

Yes, but now that cruise control defaults to using the speed limit (or current speed, whichever is higher), it causes a problem when the speed limit and your current speed are lower than what the R1 *thinks* the speed limit is. I'd really like to appreciate their new CC mode, but if it's not going to read the signs, then it's pretty damn useless.

I’ve noticed a few things:

1. Previously many roads would show a speed limit even before I passed a sign - indicating the map data had speed limit data for these roads. Many of these have disappeared with the latest update. Many roads that I know showed speed limit data before passing a sign no longer do. But some still do. (Including a notable one I’ll mention in #3.)

2. The recognition of speed limit signs is a lot slower than before. In prior versions, it would show the new speed limit almost always as I was passing the sign. Now it takes a few seconds/dozen feet.

3. Some signs don’t appear to be noticed at all - when those exact signs were previously. A notable one is near my house there is a road that used to be 45 MPH, but was recently lowered to 35. The first sign with the limit is about 50 after the T-interaction where the road begins. So when I turn onto it, the car shows 45. Before this update, as soon as I passed the new “35” sign, the vehicle would show the new limit. I have driven by it three times on the new update, and it has missed the sign all 3 times.
I'm noticing the similar behavior. I've also noticed that it more typically will recognize "Speed Limit" signs vs the "Speed" signs when it does (Oregon thing).

I am now convinced it does not use the camera at all for the speed limit signs with the latest release. It is totally relying on the map data. Much of the time it displays no speed limit at all, and many times, as before it is incorrect.

I turned off the speed limit for the cruise control as soon as I go this update, I have this feature on my Mach E and it is unsafe, because the speed limit data is sometimes incorrect. At least on the Mach E you could insert an offset to the limit.

My favorite Mach-E quirk is one stretch of road near me that the speed limit slows from 45 to 35 right before a curve. The Mach-E sees the 35 sign and almost every time decides it actually says 85!!

I agree, seems like its just going off of map data, not actually looking at the signs anymore.

Yep, I've pretty much confirmed "camera based speed limit sign reading" is no longer active. Multiple signs it recognized pre-update it no longer recognizes, under many different lighting conditions.

From my experience the speed sign recognition now only works on roads that the full Driver Assist works on.

No, I get them on regular roads, just not all of them. And many are still incorrect.

My I-pace did something similar - it mis-read a 20 MPH school zone near my house as 70 MPH.

Agree R1t does not appear to be using cameras to visually read speed limit signs. Yesterday drove down a 40mph highway with visible signage. Nothing displayed on the drivers screen. A few miles later where there were very few speed limit signs the drivers screen displayed a speed limit but it was an incorrect speed limit. I assume it was from mapping data. Too bad we are taking steps backwards as to navigation

I also want to deactivate that mode but still unable to do it.
If you're talking about the new speed limit based cruise control, just go into Settings : Vehicle : Driver+ and it's right at the top to use Current Speed instead.

Camera based speed limit recognition probably will never work since there is no consistency to how speed limits are displayed. In CA you can drive on the interstate and see several different forms of signage indicating speed limits for special vehicle classes such as trailers and trucks. In just that example alone you’ll see signs for “trucks”, “trucks and trailers”, “vehicles with more than two axles”, “vehicles over xx-tons gross vehicle weight” and on and on. Temporary speed limit signs around construction zones are a free for all. Exit ramp speed limits too. Add to all the different forms of limit signs the electronic billboards that often display limits. Audi was using cameras a few years ago and our e-tron was slamming on the brakes on the interstate due to a 15 mph limit for trucks pulling into a construction lane. Same thing for off ramps. I think Audi also changed to map-based data to remedy that, but I can’t be sure.

Ford's BlueCruise does this with high accuracy. 10K+ miles of BlueCruise driving and I'd estimate ~95% or more accuracy in my experience.

In fact, Rivian had already shown they can nearly do this. I wouldn't put it quite at 95% accurate, but 85% for sure.
