Did you sign the contract with Rivian dated August 11th 2022? If so you claim it on your 2022 tax returns. If not I'm not sure your guide will be able to completely answer your question. It's more of an accountant question.

Did it make your deposit nonrefundable? My date is/was Nov-Dec. I spoke with my guide this afternoon and he has a customer with a 2018 deposit that has been matched to a Max Pack. He was hopeful that it would just be a few weeks for me. I told him I would lock in my rate for my loan since it's good for 60 days and he said absolutely do that.

I can also confirm this to be accurate as I spoke to my CPA last week and he confirmed that based on executing the Binding Contract to Purchase (mine was actually dated 8/10/22) we can simply amend our 2022 return and are eligible for the full $7500 credit and not subject to any of the new pricing or income limitations. My CPA did state that you can technically file the amended return as soon as you have an assigned VIN #, but that it's best to wait until delivery and acceptance of the vehicle to avoid having to go back again should anything change.

Neither are we, and we have reservations! Last we heard, they were doing yet another delay. Guess it's time to get insurance lined up, financing, buy some accessories, etc.

Yeah, I'm not sure what to do either because there's no communication as to what the deal with the powered tonneau cover is. They said end of summer which no one believed but it might be too big of a hassle for them to retro add it to already delivered vehicles. They might fix the broken ones but are pushing that configurations can only be done during purchasing (ie performance motor).

This sloppiness just hurts Rivians brand

Excited to see how they badge it.

They told me the max pack would be available until next year sometime, but I can CONFIRM the dual motor R1T is being delivered. Mine came last Wednesday and it is supposed to be the first one in Tucson and the second one in Arizona. It is receiving paint protection treatment now.

Oh that's definitely true. But its a matter if Rivian wants to do it. Because then people who didn't order it at the time of purchase can now say they want it afterwards. That'll decrease their overall cost and help get tax credits and such. It also opens the door to being able to get other features after delivery which Rivian doesn't want
