I personally disagree with the UI suggestion (I ilke the clean infographic and the visual hierarchy of "schematic" versus "meters" as distinct interests). But christ dude, you don't have to be a dick about it. He made a constructive suggestion. It's enthusiasm, not entitlement.

I'll take overeager feedback over holier-than-thou cynicism any day of the week.
I know the gauge in the center could be too busy for some. I initially envisioned it with the battery graphic as a bar graph showing the temp range, this would be in keeping with the wheel graphics which are bar graphs showing power delivered or recovered. I’d probably make the battery temp bar graph show as blue (too cold), white (optimal temp range), or red (too hot). My skills with graphics just aren’t up to the task, but I can do a crude copy/paste/resize.

My 2007 C6 has a HUD that includes G-Force being pulled while cornering... of course, every sharp corner becomes an opportunity to set a new Personal Record for maximum G-Force reading. That could be fun in the Rivian as well.

These forums are filled with entitlement nonsense from those that think they deserve something they don't. Unappreciative for what they do have and complain about stupid things. It's aggrevating and makes it tough to look thru when you have a real question about something.
I get the feeling you aren’t seeing or recognizing the difference between discussion of features and entitlement to features.

People discussing potential areas of (subjective) improvement are typically phrased as “Why don’t they…” or “I’d like it if…” kind of things.

Entitlement would be things like “I demand they..” or “I deserve…” or “I paid for x!” where x was never promised.

Some people could even see entitlement as denigrating other people’s discussions as stupid or nonsense and proclaiming that, “It's aggrevating and makes it tough to look thru when you have a real question about something.” As if other people’s topics can’t possibly be “real” but yours are.

If you’re looking for something specific, try the search facility. It’s usually a LOT more efficient than scrolling through the content.

If you’re here to read through the content then be aware that you may encounter some topics you don’t like. Instead of crapping on the thread, just move on to the next one.

First world problem and not an issue. Quit complaining just to find a reason to complain about.
Everything about Rivians are "first world." That doesn't mean that suggestions or complaints are invalid. Perhaps you are out of line when you complain about folks who have suggestions or complaints.

I recognize just fine. And no its not just not liking the subjects. Its not that hard to find it if you search these forums or others.. It's whiny, want to complain about everything, holier-than-thou crap. And it's not just here. As a Tesla owner as well who cannot stand most Tesla owners because of their general pretentious attitude. But we can agree to disagree I suppose.

You wrote that you recognize the difference between discussion and entitlement, yet here you are ranting about entitlement on a discussion thread. Do you see how people could get the impression that you definitely do NOT recognize or understand the difference?

The only writer I’ve seen on this thread projecting entitlement by demanding something so far is you.

I’m assuming that each cell would have a temperature reading. So, they could also just add a colorful blue -> red heat map where the batteries are pictured, to depict the temperatures and their locations. Then, maybe show an average or median temperature reading on top of that.

I'm not sure what your issue is.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I missed these updates in this thread so I accept your apology for how you lashed out towards me elsewhere.

That would be an interesting way to show what’s going on with the batteries. Seems intuitive to me.

I don’t understand why we have a line drawing of the battery and a whole tile devoted to battery temperature. Does anyone else think it would be better to do something like this crude mockup so that a tile is freed up for something else?

Battery temp on battery mockup.png
I have to disagree. If I see a number on a battery, just glancing at it and not thinking about it, I am going to assume it’s the state of charge, not temperature. I’m not alone in that. Sure, charge is on the driver dash, but big number on a battery, I am assuming state of charge.

To be clear, the following is neither sarcasm nor anger.

Please don’t try to alter reality to suit your purposes. I didn’t apologize to you. Gently pointing out hypocrisy isn’t lashing out at you. In fact, it gave you a graceful opportunity to say something like, “Oops, now I know how others felt when I did the same thing to them.” Your denial of that hypocrisy is… puzzling.

I’d rather discuss this in a PM but you’re the only person I’ve interacted with on here who doesn’t have a “Start conversation” button on their profile so I can’t do that. I assume it’s a privacy setting you’ve turned on. Please PM me and permit replies if you’d like to discuss further. Thank you.

That’s reasonable. I think there are several ways to prevent the confusion, like with a thermometer graphic, and I’m not saying that my sloppy mockup was meant to be THE WAY. It could be there is no clean way to present the info, and that’s okay.

I really like what @Chewy734 wrote https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/goto/post?id=416059
about a way of representing the temperatures in different regions of the battery.

I think that the UI design people at Rivian could put the space to better use but ultimately it’s their call. It may never change and that’s
Fine because it will still be better than what I had before the 2023.38 update.
