Not impressed with my efficiency… and it seems to be getting worse.

21” R1T

Yes, the temperature has dropped recently. Today was 55. We had our first freeze last night.

For the last 400+ miles, I’ve not been able to break above 2.0mi/kWH. It’s like the mid line is a brick wall for my truck now.

I have all these new meters and can’t correlate any reason for it. Battery, mostly has been 75 +/- 10. Motor temps not interesting.

Anyone else?

My Trip B meter is at 2.11mi/kWH over 13k miles. Total log 14.5k miles.

Your driving speed?

Your tire pressure?

I don't know what to tell you. I have > 15k miles on my R1T and I have never had an efficiency that low for any round trip, let alone lifetime. My lifetime efficiency is 2.20 kWh/mi, on 20", with a RTT over the bed for about 6,000 of those miles. With 21" you should be doing better than me.

I’m roughly the same person in the same truck with the same job and same driving style as I was 14k miles ago. LOL

Tires are a little low today as the temperature dropped 30 degrees in a day. Two days ago they were exactly 48 cold.

Tire pressure makes a big difference, as does the cooler weather and the winds that normally come along with significant temperature changes.

I would also take a quick glance under the truck to make sure you don't have a loose panel acting as a sail.

Do you have garage parking or is it cold soaking in the driveway?

Also what is the composition of those miles, is it 20 different short trips or any longer trips?

Outside. Before the temp gauges, I would assumed “cold soak”. But the battery has mainly been right up the middle most of those 400.

Short. But I’ve always seen after the first 15min I would get “into the green”. Not seeing that lately.

I drove 45 min last night at speeds lower than 55 and never got above 2mi mark. That’s weird to me.

Battery being cold is one thing but if you drive short distances and the truck is working to warm the interior up the whole time that will have a big impact.

I definitely think on longer drives you should be seeing over 2mi/kWh with the 21s. As long as we are not talking about elevation or head winds.

I noticed the same on the R1S with 20's. Range is definitely down from the summer as it cools here. Tires are inflated to 48 and I'm sure the dead of winter will be even worse but I knew this going into it. I just chalk it up to owning the first iphone, it's a sweet device but very early in battery technology.

I saw similar things today. Temperature was 33 degrees, frost on the windshield so I used the defroster, as well as heated seat and heater. My tires were at 49 psi @ 65 degrees a few days ago, this morning they were 44 as I recall. I wasn't overly surprised at the lower efficiency.

You have one of those trucks with killer range that makes me feel inadequate. LOL

I just drive slow and don't use the hvac much, I assume if I left the hvac on auto I'd be around 2.2 to 2.3. It stays in the garage and I charge slow so that the battery is always around 70-75 when I leave the house. It's already been just 10 degrees here for 3 days straight but I still just mainly rely on the seat heater. But I think having the battery at optimum temp when I leave helps. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter, I just have always driven with minimal heat even in my ice cars of the past

Seems normal to me. I get about 2.4 in the summer and 1.7 in the winter. Averages to 2.1-2.2 over the year.
