But, home electricity rates are also twice as expensive in CA. The RAN rates are pretty much the same as my off-peak overnight rates.

Supercharger rates in CA are much higher and based on time of use.

EA rates with the monthly pass of $7 is 36 cents, same as the Rivian price, without the monthly pass it is 46 cents so if you use EA more than once a month the monthly pass pays for itself.

It is very reasonable price. To get $0.36/kW with EA you have to pay the $7.00/month membership fee. We just need more RAN chargers in places that people want to go, but are nervous to go because there aren't DCFC stations around. Rivian could fill that market.

My brother works for Tesla and he was telling me that Tesla is predicting making $100 million per year (for electricity) when they open the chargers to all...that is in addition to the manufacturing of the vehicles.

Had my first RAN experience over the weekend. Everything worked seamlessly. If anyone is curious, Rivian sends you an email after the charging session and you'll also see the cost in your "charging history" in the app:

Funny enough, one dispenser at the Christiana location is FREE. I'm not sure why, but all other dispensers had the standard $.36/kWh rate. It may have something to do with payment issues that the earlier poster mentioned? I didn't notice it on the way down, but was able to take advantage of it coming up. Since I've never had a free RAN session before, I didn't feel too bad about mooching off Rivian this time .

The ones in Michigan are inconsistent, and this particular one says flat $0.00 instead of free. Wonder if updating the pricing is just a manual process and I caught this one in the middle of being updated. Interesting that they could have a flat fee too.

I'm now just assuming that the rollout of the pricing being wonky was an issue with their CDNs not all getting updated at the same moment.
