My biggest complaint is how poor the vehicle meets and maintains temperature in auto mode. By far the worst vehicle auto climate control I’ve had over the last 20 years. Over a 2 hour trip I took screenshots of the cabin temp in the app every 15 minutes or so vs the climate setting. Having the auto climate control set to 70* maintained between 63* and 66* in the app for the entire ride. I’m not sure where the temp sensor is that the climate control is using but I have a feeling this placement is one of the main issues. I’m also curious if the temp sensor the app uses for cabin temperature is different than the climate control temp sensor, I think they must be. My guess is the climate sensor is within the main screen area and the heat from the electronics threw off the cabin temp that we feel. If they have another sensor in the cabin the app is using, utilizing both of these in the programming could possibly greatly improve actual comfort in there
I agree, the simple test for this is to turn the HVAC on when it is cold/hot out and the cabin temp will be close to the setpoint within a minute. As soon as it shuts off it shoots back to the cold/hot temp. It seems like the sensor is practically in a duct.

For those that it works well for with no complaints. Would you please share how you have it set up? Maybe mine is just legitimately broken because if it is 30* out and I have it set to 70* it'll be mid 50*-60* in the cabin and show a blue snowflake which service has says means it is calling for AC. 72* or higher will actually call for heat.

The reason it's important to have a separate pet mode that shows on the display is to notify people outside the vehicle the pet is ok and the HVAC is on so they don't bust out your windows to free your suffering dogs.

This, exactly.

The 72 degree F setting threshold acts more like a toggle switch than an actual temperature goal.

I could say "mine works well" but I live in a climate that doesn't change much temp wise.

That is true. And if you're not careful they will break your windows with their pitchforks and take your prized labradoodle hostage for ransom.

Yknow dogman, I generally agree with you and am sometimes puzzled how people take offense to your random quips.

That being said,

how dare youuuuu!

He is not, nor ever has he been some curly headed hybrid abomination whom even its creator regrets

Another insult like that and I will be forced to get my dueling glove out and challenge you!

My rant about AC is that why does it need to switch back and forth between cool and warm A/C I do not get it. Whenever I set it to warm the cabin up, it blows warm air until it reaches the temp then it start to blow cool air... Never had a car like that before.

It should simply stop blowing warm air until the cabin cools down by itself when it needs to turn on the warm air again. And I do not even have a chance to change to 'warm only' mode.

There is this stupid icon showing cool/warm only.

Why no 'cool only' or 'warm only' is beyond me.

*rant off*
? I want an AC off button that I can use around this time. I will turn it back on in. April.

The fact that you were offended by that means you are one of my peeps for sure! :CWL: Carolina Dogs are some of my favorites and at this point I have met all but the most obscure breeds. There are so few breeds left that we haven't ruined. Also, I don't think I can continue my day without a pic of "the Beanstermeister"!

They definitely need to move the heated steering wheel button to the front page shortcut bar during the winter months. I should not have to go into the menu pages to activate that.
it should actually automatically turn on when the outside temp is below 35-40 degrees like my 10 yr old Jeep did. Or at least should be a choice to turn on/off. .

I love that auto feature on the Wrangler. It would be awesome if Rivian allowed it to be "anytime OAT is below 50 or 40 or 30..." give us options. I love the Jeep but I wish I could set it at higher threshold to turn on.

My feedback is more mechanical in nature. They need to move the central vents. They are too low and impossible to get the air to your face on a hot day. Please fix this in your refresh.
I’ve read this comment in the past and I don’t see the problem. Maybe it is my height/build/seat position, but as I write this I am sitting in the Rivian with BOTH of my vents annoyingly blowing lots of air DIRECTLY in my face.

Unless you are anti Alexa, there’s no reason at all to take your eyes off the road to turn things on and off, and to adjust the fan and temperature in 99% of the typical use cases. I have been using Alexa for this since day 1 and all work great for me.

“Set fan to X” where X is 1 thru 7
“Set fan to low/medium/high”
“Set temperature to Z”
“Set heat/air conditioning on/off”
“Set seat heat to 1/2/3/Off”
“Set steering wheel heat on”

This, please! I'm in an area where it is currently only 40F in the mornings (and will get much colder in coming months) but if I set the temp below 72, I get the cool air. I want to set it to 68 so it doesn't run the heat too much, but if there is any semblance of sun, the AC kicks on and makes me feel cold and annoyed.
Completely agreed. I think this results in quite a bit of lost efficiency as well.

I agree there should at least be a fan speed adjustment that does not require going into the climate menu to adjust.

I would honestly be happy if I just didn’t have to readjust my vents pretty much every time I get in the car because they, somehow, re-aim somewhere. So annoying

I'd like real buttons and knobs please. And physical vanes to control air flow direction. As much as people despise huge touchscreen ac controls and countless studies (and a little common sense) prove how dangerous they are, here we are. This is when the oooh and aaaah people of the world trump people with common sense.
