So, If this device from EVsportline works and resolves the Carplay question, do you plan on getting the R1T or it has to be native? If so it will never happen and I like the fact UI is clean on Rivian and TESLA (I have both), but I can add with Ease the option to my taste.

At this point I don't think I will proceed with the purchase when the time comes, which is bit of a shame because I have reservation for a Max Pack R1T from before the price increase.

My wife's R1S is very nice. But there are also other reasons besides the lack of CarPlay. It really bothered me that they removed the outlets from the frunk and the 12V from under the dash. My lightning has USB ports and outlets everywhere. There are other design choices where I think Rivian failed, like the pathetic cup holders, lack of storage options, etc.

I do like my lightning a lot. I love the fact that not only can I use my phone as a key, but I don't need anything to get in and drive. A number code on the door can unlock and a password on the screen can start the truck. It is also more comfortable and quieter to drive. It is, however, bigger than I would like, most of the time.

We also don't live very close to a service center so I am not sure I would want both of our vehicles to be a Rivian.

However, if I didn't have the Lightning and there was a viable CarPlay solution I probably would proceed.

But my overall point was that as good as Rivians are, they are not the only game in town and choices they are making are resulting in loss of sales.

Sounds good! Ours connects and kicks on CarPlay at the similar speed as my other cars that have integrated CarPlay. Maybe a little faster since that’s the focus here. Look forward to shipping these out for you all ??

When will they be shipping to those of us who ordered the day that you originally posted this and is the youtube video done? If so can you please share that up here. Thank you! Would like to have it installed and running before my year end trip.

Has anyone installed the screen below the air conditioning vents in the center of the console?

Like others I had one installed there at one point. Mounting is a bit of a PITA and I found the adhesive (even replacement 3M VHB) would sometimes let go and drop the screen in high heat. The biggest issue for me with that position was the glare in the rear window at night, though that is driver-position dependent I imagine.

Looking forward to seeing if this works for onX maps or Gaia. It would be worth it to me for those apps as well as Google Maps/Waze. I have no desire for Bluetooth streaming though. That is a backwards step for quality. I will stick with Spotify and Tidal for my music. Does the tablet have a built in speaker or audio out jack?

GaiaGPS and OnXOffRoad both support CarPlay according to their websites. I’m also interested in these apps for forest service road use.

They also support AndroidAuto. Not sure how well GaiaGPS does with this looking at their user support articles.

Yes - me too. Against my wife's wishes ("I don't want any more non-Rivian stuff in my truck1"), I ordered one. My plan is to use it only when we're doing long drives and to take it down/off the rest of the time. Initially I'll probably power it from the armrest until she concedes that it's really useful and lets me install the fuse box power source. Did I mention that the Rivian is hers?

Maybe you’ll have better success than me, but I was not able to drive my otherbrand CarPlay screen (similar to this one) from the center console or the usb-cs behind the seats. They simply don’t carry enough power. I was able to get to work with a Garmin OBD to USB-C which may be a bit more straightforward than the fuse tap if you don’t have the under dash 12v like me.

Thanks for the heads-up...I'll figure out power before doing any other part of the install. I don't have the 12V plug in the R1S so I may have to go straight to the fuse box solution. It looks like EV Sportline have made it about as simple as possible.

ours includes a direct to fuse panel power setup.
