So if this happened to you during your delivery you would be like OK that’s cool I’m gonna clean it myself?
100% without a question. I’d just check to see if there are big issues that would prevent delivery. Cars get dirty almost immediately.

I have to agree with you here. I picked mine up on a snowy day in Normal, did a 5 minute get acquainted drive with the delivery guy, vehicle got completely filthy with road grime and front mats got dirty from the wet shoes.

It all cleaned up just fine.

I have different expectations then. I have purchased preowned vehicles cleaner than this.
Me too. The last 10 or so vehicles I have purchased were perfectly clean and delivered indoors.

So hopefully that is the direction Rivian is aiming for if not delivering on....

It was delivered inside but the delivery guide had to drive it off the back lot at the factory so was already dirty before I drove it.

Edit: My wife does think I’m way to easy going on things like this, anything going to her I make her do the delivery inspection. ?

I’ve never purchased a vehicle where they didn’t take it and detail it before they handed it back to me to drive off in. I can understand if you get some dirt on the floor mats if you are getting it. Otherwise, it should be clean, especially at this price.

I had my R1S in for service at Costa Mesa about 3 months ago to address some minor issues that were present at delivery. I delivered my truck clean, received it back filthy with dried bird shit. One of their receptionist is also very rude most of the time, I believe his name is Joe. Definitely not a fan of that service center.

Ouch, hoping it’s just the end of the year push. Eastvale just opened so assumed they were going to take some pressure off Costa Mesa. Have my second appointment in early January.

I had a similar horrible experience at Costa Mesa 6 mos ago (bird crap and all). This thread is bringing back some suppressed anger?.

25+ years ago I was detailing Infiniti cars prior to delivery and included a few Ferrero Rocher's as well. We didn't cut corners and even did the cheaper G20's as well.

My R1S was dirty too and the guy during delivery was using a microfiber towel and I'm like dude I'm good, I'll wash it myself instead of introducing scratches into the paint. Nothing will live up to that hype after that long of a wait unfortunately. I got to drive home in a dirty truck that had all kinds of annoying squeaks/panel gaps and had to wait 2+ months to address them which took multiple times. It was a delivery let down, no doubt about it. The only good part was the quick document signing via iPad.

Yes. The dent is a different story, but they'll get it corrected.

??‍♂ what is going on in Costa Mesa? Unacceptable for sure. You just purchased a 100k vehicle and they give you Lysol wipes and tell you to clean it yourself???

Contact your guide and tell them you want to return it for a refund since your within the 7 day return period. OR they can clean it properly as it should have been before you took delivery.

Someone definitely dropped the ball here. They need to do better!

On the dimple I doubt the service center even handles that. Can they remove that with PDR? Maybe service can just send it to a PDR specialist?
100% agree with all of this. Costa Mesa needs to understand that this level of service is unacceptable. Maybe if customers start returning vehicles, or merely even suggesting that they will, a proper audit from management will take place?

I’m sorry that you experienced this, OP. What a terrible first ownership impression of the brand.
