UPDATE:
the service center says it was a mistake and they are going to correct it. mobile service will come out and replace with the correct Meridian speaker grille. they saythe speaker itself is the Meridian and that wasn't changed.

Rivian customer service comes through again!

-----
i had my R1T serviced back in Dec of last year. they needed to replace the leather on the door that got damaged during a previous service center visit as well as replace the heating element for the drivers side mirror as the defrost wasnt working. i didnt notice it until now that the replaced the speaker as well. tbh, not sure if they replaced the speaker or just the speaker grille. perhaps they replaced the entire door card. either way kinda not cool that ive been downgraded.

ive reached out to the service center to ask about this. id keep an eye out if you take your vehicle in for these types of service.

You werent downgraded persay. They just replaced the door card. You still have the Meridian behind that grill.

Try explaining that to a private buyer ? functionally, if they can replace a piece of trim with a completely different part number, then there's very little stopping them from doing the same with the actual speakers themselves, the infotainment screen itself, control electronics, motors, etc.

Either way, this feels like an honest mistake that most service folks would recognize and immediately source a replacement part for.

Didn't you already post about this recently, or is this a systemic problem now?

OP-so you have mismatched speakers now? At least the logos. Sounds like that SC is a bit odd. I'd put in a ticket so it's documented. This is just silly.

Doubtful they have extra "Meridian Elevation" grilles still lying around, since they broke ties with Meridian. Might be something that has to be taken from a wrecked one if you need it to match.

Does it sound any different? I’m assuming not if you have had the truck back for a few weeks and didn’t notice.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem

Yeah they really need to match the speaker grills. I’d also have them verbally - from the tech, not the desk - verify that the speaker is indeed OE Meridian and not OE Rivian. What a weird oversight by the SC.

BTW it’s not clear to me what (if any) differences exist between the Rivian-branded speakers (still made by Meridian) and the Meridian-branded speakers.

If all they replaced is the door card then the speaker would not be included. AFAIK speakers are mounted to the door itself.

Is the speaker grill even removable separately?

They should have enough extra to match up. I bet they ordered the wrong part.

only know what customers have said and most say the Elevation doesnt sound as good. i have a friend who has two Rivians and he says Meridian sounds better. according to Rivian the difference is they removed "we've removed the rear passenger door midrange speakers" and "The new Rivian Elevation audio system is lighter, more efficient and uses less rare-earth metals"
