You need a co-pilot to cover the buttons on the passenger side.
Welp, that is an optional passenger screen, with passenger controls for certain items.

STLA offers it in the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Waggy as well.

Thanks. So the same buttons are available to the driver. As appropriate.

A shame about the rear glass shape. Very round and convex, makes it look pretty ugly from certain angles. Front and side look amazing.
I built a Macan 4 with limited options and it's $90k. I think we'd rather go for the R1S at that price...I think the color options are cool and the blackberry interior - wife loves it.

If one configures a Mavan EV to have most of the equipment an R1 comes with one would need to add:

Memory seats
Heated and ventilated seats (requires leather upgrade)
Trailer hitch
Roof rails
Surrond view
Lane keep assist
Prep for dashcam

New price is $85,810 plus destination

I just priced Macan Turbo as close as I could get to my R1S……. $112,640 . This is without any fancy interior or exterior add-on like carbon fiber or bespoke leather.

this is also without the great unknown… dealer Markups which will likely be considerable since this is Porsche we are talking about.

Not every dealer will mark up, ours isn't allowed. Unfortunately those dealers that don't won't ever have one in stock or available.

Oh, a *real* luxury SUV with a *real* sound system. ;-) Too small though. Hopefully, they will eventually offer a Cayenne EV.
I disagree on its size. I think its way too big for a Porsche. But I know these days the SUVs keep them in business so they can make the two seaters.

Porsche has sold more ICE Cayennes than any other model in their history and they are 6k+ lbs which are much bigger than Macans.

R1S - April 2021 preorder
Just way too expensive for me - but I’ve never loved Porsches. And I definitely don’t like knobs and buttons, etc. Not sure what this competes with - a Lyriq is much cheaper but nice and luxurious. Is it a BMW and Mercedes EV competitor or just an “if you love Porsches, but want EV, this is for you?”

But doesn’t surprise me on price given Taycan pricing. Hope they do well and continue to prove EVs have a huge place in the market.

Really? You own a $100k Rivian although you paid preorder price like me.

Personally, I'll take more knobs and buttons than having to click 3-4 times to find something as simple as odometer, neutral, etc. I'll take a Porsche (and Audi) interior, styling, infotainment system, climate control system, sound system, and *real* leather over Rivian or Cadillac in a heartbeat.

Porsche SUVs complete with any luxury SUVs in similar price points.

Right now, Taycan's only real competition is the Tesla S Plaid for which the soon to be released new version just beat the Plaid's record lap time by 18s @Nurburgring

I am surprised people consider this 5-seat hatchback a competitor to the 3-row Rivian SUV but I guess I don't understand how people shop for cars.

The 2026 Cayenne EV would be more of a R1S competitor but considering people compare R1S to minivans and even crossovers like the BMW iX, nothing surprises me anymore.

The Macan EV Base is super disappointing. It maybe good enough wearing a VW badge, but $80k+ base price for a Base 4 weighing 5300 lbs and a 0-60 performance of 5.1s (4.9s can only be achieved with the optional Launch Control) is neither acceptable nor Porsche worthy.

I suspect the real world numbers will be a little better than that, as Porsche always sandbags their numbers.

Also, what other EV will charge as fast and have a real 300mi highway range?

Porsche has never really tried to compete on acceleration numbers. I can promise this will embarrass all other EV crossover/SUVs in terms of build quality, ride quality and handling.

Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? That's a personal choice - but I can promise they'll sell as many as they can build for a while.

I am eager to see what the R2 will bring. It will certainly be a better value, but I suspect it won't charge as well, hane as much range, nor be as well built. It will probably more practical and better for "SUV things".
