Can we all cut it the eff out with the “a guy at the service center told me X”.

I remember taking delivery in July ‘22 and the guy dropping the truck off was like “oh I’m waiting for the r2 - I wish I could tell you about it but let’s just say it’s gonna be wild!”

I went along with him but knew that he didn’t know jack more than any of us in the forum at the time.

I don’t think the product team at rivian is sharing future details - especially for products not scheduled for production for years - with service reps.

hey - I may be wrong - but every time I hear about future product plans shared by a chatty service rep, it triggers me.

They should already be able to do that with the fender cameras. I imagine the picture quality would be better if the camera is moved from the fender to the mirror, though.

Mirrors are new as cameras from front arch molding have been relocated into mirror. Not sure on new front camera, but more cameras are to be activated for improved driver+. New wheels coming, wood being removed on new package along with camp speaker and some other cost saving changes. Expect monochromatic to make an appearance soon, it is in testing. Hoping original owners can get it installed though sure it is not going to be cheap

Mine is a September '23 build and has a trapezoid cutout for the camera and a round cutout for the rain sensor. Edit: there is a smaller trapezoidal cutout to the left and the rain sensor is directly above the larger trapezoid on the right.

All the other implementations of LIDAR that I've seen have a larger sensor with a domed window. This seems unlikely to be added LIDAR. Maybe just a bigger camera.

Latest Luminar sensors seem to be flat. Some look like the brake lights on a Ford fusion.
