Is the 115 an acceptable rating for the R1S?
Yes…I think the only company that makes a 116 in the 22” is Pirelli and lately you can find any. Discount Tire had no issue putting on the 115 XL

I was wondering the same thing yesterday and found this Google Spreadsheet that someone created to track all tire options for all wheel setups. Super handy!

Rivian Tire Options

And what I appreciate most is that they include the OEM tires and basically compare all other options from there.

It's been a week since i had the general grabber hts 60 and i feel like these are better than stock tires when it comes to handling road noise and bumps. I am still looking into range difference. it has been very cold here lately and i have degraded range so i will keep you posted.

I'll chime in with the Continental TerrainContact H/T option for 22" wheels, which already feel like a huge improvement over stock Pirellis. Ride is smoother, although they are a bit noisy around 70-75mph (not so much below and above that range).

Any additional feedback on the H/T after a few additional months of driving? Still noticing tire noise around 70-75? Any noticeable difference in efficiency or grip compared to the Pirellis? I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of these since my original tires need to be replaced at not quite 11k miles.

They're a huge improvement over the factory Pirellis and I'm glad I went this direction. I have 3500 miles on them and don't have enough great things to say. I've noticed a substantial increase in ride comfort and a decrease in overall road noise. Tire noise around 70-75 was a wheel balance issue and was resolved after a rebalance. I also haven't seen any range degradation. I had a 160mi trip a few weeks ago in 15-20F ambient temps and averaged a 1.9mi/kw efficiency which was the best I've seen on this truck in cold weather.

My neighbor got a set last week and even he was astonished how much better the ride is compared to the Pirellis.

If you do get a set, order from TireBuyer.com. They offer free shipping and you can save 10% using coupon code HONEY10. Additionally, if you have a Chase credit card, you may be eligible for up to 5x points per $1 spent when you access TireBuyer.com from Shop Through Chase. Bonus points differ between different Chase cards.

Thanks, greatly appreciate that additional feedback on the tire!

How is general grabber holding up?

Hope this thread keeps maturing for the 22” tire options!

Are there warranty issues with Rivian for any of the tire options?

I am leaning towards the Continentals but read it did not have the same speed ratings as the Pirelli’s.

I called Rivian Service looking for clarification and was told that the HL 116 rating of the OE Pirelli is preferred but the 115 XL is acceptable. So I installed the Continental Terrain Contact HT and have been extremely pleased with them so far (still less than 1000 miles on them). They pretty much have to say that given they shipped vehicles with the 115 XL rating. If there were to be any issue, it would be safety - not warranty.

Thank you so much!
very helpful!
it seems the continentals does not have a high impact on range. Can you confirm that is your initial experience with 1000 miles in them?

With spring temps setting in, it has been difficult to compare before/after. But around town, I am not seeing efficiencies that seem outside of the normal ranges. I have not done any extended highway driving yet. I may be driving down to San Marcos in a few weeks so that should give me a better feel for impact on range.

Looking forward to what your experience of the mileage impact is with those tires.

I did notice the R3X has Continental’s on them, which I found interesting!

Just put the TerrainContact HTs on my R1T with 22s and very pleased. Great efficiency and the ride is improved as well.

It's been hard to make a true apples-to-apples comparison but I have not noticed any difference in efficiency with the new Contis, either around town or on a road trip. I'm still super happy with these tires.
