Why does USB-C charging outlet only output 15 watts?

Why are the rivian USBC's only 15 watts?

Anyone else think this is ridiculous? We charge our cell phones at home upwards of 60 to 70 watts. Wish you could have a laptop charger. Without plugging in the 110. Or maybe your phone is almost ready to die and you left your key at home! And now you have to sit in your vehicle until your phone charges up. At 15 watts lol because you know we all have forgot our key card at home and only had our cell phone and our cell phone dies. By the way that's another topic how do we get into Arabian once our cell phone dies lol

I don't know how you'll get into Arabia without a passport, but as far as your Rivian is concerned I think they have given us plenty of options between the cards, Paak, and fob. You can even buy a wristband if you want another option. If we can't figure out how to get in with one of the 4 that isn't their fault.

Usually I have a full charge on my phone and never really charged in the R1T, my kids are the ones that need the charging. On the other note are we talking about the R1A (Arabian).

Maybe I'm misinformed, but I'm not aware of any cell phones charging at 60-70 watts. Newer iPhones are ~20-30 watts max I think. Older ones are significantly less.

Just because your brick of a charger can do 100 watts, doesn't mean that's what is going into your cell phone.

Iphones max out at 30w. Fast charge is anything over 20W.

But tell me about this 70w phone. Big time FOMO!

So 60 doesn't = 45.

Why don't you just use the 110v outlet and plug in a laptop charger? Seems like a very small use case where you would have to charge a phone over 15W.
