I just ordered the combo bundle so I can use it with superchargers and my home charger. I'll be taking delivery of my R1T in a few days. We recently took a trip to the Grand Canyon with our Model X Plaid. Luckily, I brought my CCS adapter. Only Electrify America was in the area. Flagstaff was the closest Tesla charger and would have to drive 60 miles round trip from where we were staying in Williams, AZ.
Check your expectations - Flagstaff is a V2 and will NOT be open to CCS vehicles using an adapter.

Tesla has not opened ANY superchargers in northern Arizona (north of Phoenix, east of Kingman.)

While the Tesla superchargers will be useful in some places, there are a lot of other places where they are no help at all.

Just for reference for them...

Exactly. Anyone that has gotten a shipping notice lately, what was your order date?
Ordered on 3/11. Haven't gotten a shipping notice, but I asked A2Z and they responded that it would probably ship on 4/1. Unfortunately, that probably means it won't come before the road trip starting on 4/5 that I was hoping to have it as a backup for.

BTW, I too have an A2Z NACS adapter and tried it out tonight. Worked great.
Question on the NACS plug and NACS adapter being locked during charging.

Are all components locked together during a DCFC charge? Assuming the only way to end the charge early is via the Rivian or Tesla app or from inside the Rivian, one can walk away and not have to worry about someone walking off with the NACS adapter.

Correct. Everything is locked together and you must use app or inside vehicle to stop charging.

That is nice to hear, on my Mach-E anyone can walk up and end the charge with a button press and then walk off with the NACS adapter If you aren’t keeping a close watch on it.

The adapter is locked to the truck. On the A2Z adapter there is a switch that locks the Tesla cord to the adapter but there is nothing that would prevent someone from flipping that switch, it will stop the charging and they could unplug the cord stopping your charging but could not take the adapter out of the truck.

Edit: I tested this morning, it appears if the Rivian is not actively charging the charge port unlocks so the adapter can be removed even if the vehicle is still locked.

Wouldn't the truck unlock the port once the charge was interrupted? I don't really like the fact that the switch can interrupt the charge. I just plan to use the adapter in emergencies and won't leave the vicinity.

Actually I have not tested that, I always unlock the truck when unplugging. I’ll have to test it, I know my Tesla will not unplug until I unlock it.

Honestly in the 8 years I’ve been DCFC charging I’ve never not been at the vehicle when it finishes charging, on the rare occasion that I am running behind I usually just change the percentage to charge from the app so I am not accruing idle time.

Thanks for the update A2Z. Wild how Tesla/Ford/Rivian couldn’t figure out how to mass produce these in the 8 months they had available to them, but a smallish manufacturer in Canada could. A2Z even had to design something and test from scratch while Tesla had an already designed part from MagicDock.

Tesla certainly had the opportunity to start producing these even soon since they had been for the magic docks. And since they knew they were going to make deals with other auto makes to use the supercharger network. But I think Tesla wants to slow the rollout of CCS cars using their charging network. Only reason I can think of for not making 10s of thousands a month starting a year ago.

Yes, but that doesn’t excuse Ford and Rivian from sitting on their hands.
