I feel your pain. I’m going to Cape Cod in two weeks and supercharging would (will ??) make my trip down from VT way smoother (having done this trip, EA is terrible on most of the options on the way).

I really hope either my A2Z makes it, or (less likely), my dad’s Rivian issued Tesla adapter so I can borrow it.

Can anyone with an A2Z adapter chime in about how fast shipping took once your charger was marked as shipped? Where do they ship out of?
I don’t know if it’s on your route, but did you see that a six stall RAN finally opened in West Lebanon, NH? That is a huge improvement in the area, as is the 9 station in Holyoke MA. Brattleboro VT RAN still not open.

And then we find out Ford's recently announced adapter delay is they have a printing problem with the box, lol.

I prefer they ship them ASAP and not deal with pretty looking stuff that's going in the garbage when I receive it.
All of rivians shippping materials are made from recycled ocean waste. The amount of time, energy, and cost involved in this box was a multiple of what it took Ford to include a thank you note…..

They do it this way for a reason, safety. As the faulty batch of Lectron adapters demonstrated. With the A2Z, it will not charge unless to lock is engaged. And charging would stop if it is unlocked mid-charge.
The Tesla one and practically every other decent adapter does the same with an automatic lock. That engages when you push a button. They did it this way to cut costs, it’s not “safer” than the Tesla one.

I don't see why that would be the case, J3400 is an SAE standard now. Tesla doesn't have anything to do with it except providing a lot of chargers on J3400.
J3400 is still a work in progress. https://www.sae.org/standards/content/j3400/

(yes I am aware they have a current standard under J3400_202312, but it's obvious it was just to push it out the door because of the rationale on the non-date coded standard)

Rivian is sending by Vin# of vehicle. Mine is < 200. Yes one of the first vehicles.

I think NACS (J3400) is seen as a Tesla port since they are the ones that came up with the design. Going to take a long time to get rid of that association.

That's strange because on the opt-in email they clearly stated it will be shipped by delivery date.
If they send by VIN how will they stagger T vs S which have different VIN #s?

The opt-in email states "Adapters will be prioritized based on owners’ delivery dates—oldest to newest." It must be on original delivery dates. Bought my R1T from original owner in late May '23 and the adapter will be arriving today.

Delivery date out of factory and delivery date to an individual is probably closely correlated since all vehicles back then were accounted for when they were being made. It’s probably also closely correlated with VIN and when they get to R1S production dates, it’ll probably be two different VIN streams.

Looks official! Time to run the social media blitz about how Rivian owners can now use the Tesla network with the factory supplied adapters!
I know it's the wrong thread, but what's up with the MALWARE on this site? On my MacBook, if I click on a thread, I get the danger, you computer has been taken over.....do not try to delete....call this number..... It's damn annoying and I have to force quit to get out from under the threat.

That’s great!! The EA sucks there. It must be 30% up time based on my experience.

Maybe I missed it all, but is this a 6 page thread of people being upset that Rivian used minimal/efficient packaging when shipping the adapter? Legitimately, who cares what it comes in as long as it suffices to ensure the contents arrive intact? That's all shipping materials need to accomplish.

Keep in mind, VIN# does not perfectly align to delivery date since Rivian batched VIN# based on exterior/interior color combos (at least they did that in the early days). My VIN for an El Cap I almost took delivery on in early June' 22 was in the 7000, I ended up getting a LG about 3 weeks later which VIN was in the 4000.
