I like this a lot. Is this the exact one you have? How's the overall quality? Seem brilliant and looks like it won't take up much room when not being used.
It's the exact one I have. It's pretty basic, but the quality is good. It even comes with the hitch tightener, a caution flag, and some reflective stickers that can be applied to the rack. The hitch tightener cinched the rack tube inside the hitch receiver, preventing it from rattling or moving around.

Good to know. I'm gonna pick one up.
Did you buy the version with the rubber pads or the normal one?

But given that there are no rear tow hooks, it might be problematic...
Someone already did it with long pipes. You use the rear hitch tie offs. No drive shafts, no hot exhaust just drive over it and load up.

I ended up in getting one of the Loadd Sheett (long version )

https://loadd.co/collections/bed-extenders

Works great for keeping 12ft secure; also works great for things like plywood / drywall / server racks, whatever you want to haul that's too long.

I recommend adding on the flag option as well; make it super convenient.

and comically on their page if you look at the images you'll see a rivian with 12' lumber:

Seconded. I have done this on multiple occasions to haul 12' lumber.

Damn! You're braver than I am. Are those 16-footers?! That doesn't look like it would stay put on my hill (15% grade).

I knew from the beginning I would need it. I haul 10ft material weekly for work. I just got creative and retro mod a rack on the back. I have Had it this way for 2 years now

Seems like a genius idea. Kinda pricey but might pick one up. I’m looking to haul 16’ 2x6 and I doubt this would work for that though.
I hauled 2 16’ 2x10s and just used ratchet straps up to the rear rail tie downs. I also went back inside and bought a 27 gallon tote to set on the end in the bed and strapped that down to the lower anchor points in the bed to hold that end down. I had another strap wrapped around that end under the tote to prevent lateral movement as well as one wrapped around on the tailgate. Everything worked just fine for my trip home. I also hauled it at 9:30pm so there weren’t many cars out and about.

I too have the Loaad Sheett and have used it for hauling 12' 2x4 as well as my 12' and 14' kayaks.
Super easy to use and holds the loads solidly in place. Highly recommended!

Here is the Thread from when I did it.

it’s not a super OEM look but I use the heck out of it. And it comes off in 5 min if I need more aero or taller bed space.

This is a 10ft load. for 12' or longer you would have lay the load parallel with the bed and strap it to the side lugs. The bucket/strap method will still work. I keep that bucket in the gear tunnel with straps and other small crap. Cheap, multipurpose, very sturdy and always on board. Just make sure you have good quality bucket so the force of the strap doesn't pull the handle through the bucket rim. This one's super strong from Menards and is a highly visible red.

I believe I finally have solutions for everything long I want to haul. As someone else suggested, I bought the Loadd solution from the Peoria company. It works well for large, heavy loads. It is well designed and will secure everything within reason. However, for long pieces of lumber, the Mariner solution from Range Industries is great. Very well built and strudy. I can confirm it is perfectly level with Rivian's rack. I have yet to try a 20' piece of lumber but I have confidence it will work. Pictures attached.

Update: after a significant project, I can confirm I can easily haul 16’, 18’ and 20’ lumber on this setup. For plywood, I used the Loadd strap system which is just easier for wide pieces. But for all board lumber, the rack is very quick and easy. Much better than having pieces over 8’ hanging out the back end. Plus, I have received so many compliments on the look of the rack, I have decided to keep it on permanently. Hats off to Range for a very well designed, good looking solution.
