Rough day for my R1S... source: house fire, not vehicle

My guess is the guy invested a ton into Fisker. Lost all his cash. Decided to go for an insurance claim on the S and using a weed burner went to town on it. Scorched the inside of the garage area just to be more convincing. He hasn't responded here because his neighbor saw him do it and called the cops and fire department......

Since the OP provided 0 context, there are some valid concerns with these photos. There is fresh unburnt wood in the back right rear corner of that carport. The vehicle appears to be "burned to the ground" but not the house around it (especially the upper roof)? I've seen many photos of cars burned to this extent (ICE, EV, both the car's fault and houses fault) and there is not that much "house" remaining around it (at all). A wood house is going to burn to the ground before a metal vehicle does.

im not sure I understand your “valid” concerns. This is what happened and what is left - fire started in the house in the room next to the carport and then spread outside. Oddly the car caught fire and burned more quickly than the carport.

Sadly both my house and my R1S.

There’s not much to the story - unclear as to what caused the fire but it started in the house - had nothing to do with the vehicle - I was home alone and just made it out. The fire hadn’t spread to the outside of the house and my keys/wallet/phone were by back door and I tried to grab them but fire was too out of control by then.

By the time I got across the street to my neighbors and called 911 the fire spread to the carport and the roof of the Rivian was the first thing to catch fire.

But the vehicle categorically had nothing to do with the fire. I havent gotten my home charger installed and have been unable to charge it at home (hit a grounding error when I tried the wall charger).

Well, things can be replaced, people not so much. Glad you got out ok! Sorry about all the disbelief and light hearted comments in this thread. At the end of the day, you can be assured that the Rivian family all wish you the best.

Really sorry to read this. I've been through a house fire that was pretty well contained, and even that was an incredibly difficult ordeal. Wishing you the best as you sort through this, and glad you were able to get out. The pictures of what is left of that R1S are incredible.

Seems all this thread is clickbait. If OP had time to post the image, I gues there was time to explain.

I literally posted the pics as I was sitting outside on my neighbors lawn while the firefighters were still there and I was talking to the investigator.
But thanks for your input.

Something clearly isn't adding up. Whole car burnt to a crisp, and the old wooden structure surrounding it is still standing??? The only way I could imagine such a thing, is if the fire department was on it quick and got the house put out while R1S batteries kept reigniting, maybe?
