Gen 3 ? that would probably be 2030? (R2 ~2026, R3 ~2028, R1 Gen 3 ~2030). As a 2024 Gen 1 owner I hope to keep mine at least 10 years, unless they make it so tempting to upgrade that i cant resist. Who knows what tech might look like in 2030, so it's hard to say.

Would be cool if they dropped a Bronco like R1 and Wrangler Like R2. Removable top and doors, which they did a patent on removable roof recently
I'm too afraid to keep mine past the warranty. I can't image paying to replace failed air suspension or a motor. These things are not cheap to repair.

That's fair, that would be a similar concern with any car I guess. I'm 8-10 years post warranty, I would think there would be used/rebuilt parts available in the aftermarket.

Meridian Audio or equivalent finally making a come back.....
Meridian Audio is about as lackluster as a 1985 volvo's sound system, it is an extremely low bar to shoot for, at least in the R1T, not even a real subwoofer was used which is the most impactful speaker of all.

Disagree. I have it and feel it sounds on par with the best systems I have owned.

It's def on par with the worst I've owned.

last factory sound system was JBL from Toyota Tacoma, that blew this out of the water.

I know it's wishful thinking, but it would be nice if the charging port was on the other side of the vehicle so we don't have to take over 2 spots when supercharging. ⚡
They are putting the NACS charger on the other side and the CCS charger will remain where it is now. So yeah, dual charge ports, one on each side. Makes perfect sense to me. You heard it here first.

So then I am curious with what your comparables are for the Elevation and then the new G2 Elevation with the subwoofer removed? With the R1T Meridian = 1985 Volvo as the starting point?

I haven't heard them I wouldn't know.

I did however sell car audio professionally in the past, I have listened to thousands of factory car audio systems, I have built thousands of car audio systems, along with home audio ranging from the lowest possible cost upgrade up to $100k systems.

The truck has no bass, the most important factor in a well rounded audio system is the subwoofer, not the only important thing but absolutely without a doubt the most impactful part of any sound system.

Longer wheelbase. Give the R1S the same wheelbase as the R1T for improved towing and more storage behind the 3rd row.
In that same vain, I do wonder if Rivian will ever really lean into the "sport truck" category and make a regular cab version of the R1T with the R1S wheelbase. With a slightly longer bed I'm sure people like @Oldsmobile_Mike would sign right up.

It does sound like your experience in audio would definitely cause a desire for a higher level of audio than the Meridian.

But I do feel my bass is pretty substantial and well balanced to the rest of the system.

I see some varience in people's reactions to Meridian R1T on various forums. It makes me wonder if some have defective subwoofers/speakers/amps? Or maybe even that Rivian/Meridian made a running change or two in the beginning that hasn't been made public?

You say yours has no bass and yet mine is on par with bass I have had in other premium level systems over the past. Just makes me wonder if things are different in the vehicles....

they use a 6x9 midrange driver for a subwoofer in the R1T, sound waves are round, you don't make good quality sound from an oval speaker much less a driver designed for midrange will not re-create the proper frequency where bass exists. Oval speakers were initially used in fords for economy, there's no world where an oval speaker should ever exist much less be used in place of a proper subwoofer.

If i disconnected the subwoofer *or you did* I am almost guaranteeing you could hardly tell the difference as the midrange bass from the doors is OK.

a basic 8 inch driver just wouldn't fit for them that's why they used a 6x9, behind the seat would have been the right place to put it oh well. such as life. I'm now old enough where I don't care, I will not be modifying the truck's car audio system, I just wanted to make a point of saying in the world of factory car audio systems Meridian let me down, also side note: the Tacoma I traded in was easily the best factory car audio system I'd personally owned, they did a great job, so it's a huge step down and that's probably making me even more sour on the subject!

I know my subwoofer is definitely working and contributing alot of bass. Mine was causing a fair amount of rear seat area vibrations that I had to search out and dampen when I first got the truck. So I turned it up a fair amount, short of any distortion, and found then all, made adjustments, and got rid of them. But it is definitely generating a fair amount of bass.

But I do get what you are saying....something even better would be appropriate at the price range of the trucks. Even more so with the Accend trim level.

Solid State Battery, weight reduction by 1000 lbs, new outer mold line with better aero, everything in 2nd gen updated, especially the smart HW, and....

Quite cabin, no more wind noise and better insulated interior with active noise cancellation!
