Exactly. I raised my HO insurance deductible to lower my rate (still high) as I know that I can really only use my insurance in a catastrophic event. Any use will cause me to be dropped. And I have no other options as I am “too close” to a fire zone. They already made me rip out all plants against my home or they would drop me. They used satellite imagery to spy on my yard. Completely sucks. When you say chip repairs, do you mean rock chips on the paint?
If so, I’m not surprised. Given the current state of the insurance industry, at least here in California, I wasn’t willing to use my homeowners insurance for a water leak that caused a few thousand dollars in damage. Sadly I’d rather not be dropped in the current state of affairs, so I’m saving any insurance claims for the unlikely meaningful “event “.
