Thanks for sharing! Can you explain in more detail how it is optimized for our Rivians?
Prob. just means the 116H load/speed rating, not too many tires carry that combo...could also be a myriad of other tweaks for the heavy load/torque:

EV-Specific Tires:
  1. Stronger Construction: EV tires have a robust construction with more durable rubber compounds to handle the vehicle's heavier weight and high instant torque, preventing rapid wear.
  2. Enhanced Grip: Special compounds are used to improve grip and reduce stopping distances, compensating for the increased vehicle weight.
  3. Lightweight Design: EV tires are designed to be lightweight to maximize the vehicle's range by reducing rolling resistance.
  4. Load Handling: EV tires are often XL (extra load) or HL (high load) rated to support the substantial weight of electric vehicle batteries.

Any news about when these tires will be available? I‘m at the end of life for my second set of Pirellis and would love a quieter, Rivian endorsed option.
Please excuse the thread jack/tangent - are those of us with the 20 inch ATs going to be able to use these tires over the ATs? 2022 Launch R1s with the 20s here.

It seems there are other options, but the effecient ones either seem to require recalibration or off size/off speed by 1-3 percent.

All best, D

The Goodyear and Rivian teams worked together to optimize efficiency, on/off road traction, all weather performance with a comfortable and quiet ride.

I guess the question is one of Rivian support/software adjustment for the smaller diameter of the 275/60/r20 tire.

Yes, all these things and more factor in to EV tire design. It is fascinating how many details need to be factored in to create a good performing tire.

The new Goodyear 275/60R20 option was just recently released. Here is the link...

Unfortunately, the image shown is currently not the new Rivian tire. I have raised this issue internally with my fellow Goodyear associates. Hopefully it will be addressed soon.

As previously mentioned, Tire Rack also has the the new Goodyear in stock. ...

On your truck have you tried to get Rivian to do the computer change from gen 1 20 OEM to 21 OEM so it matches with these tires? Or does it not matter that much?

Like all the other OEM tires, the Goodyear does not come with a treadwear warranty.

I did discuss with the service center that this might be an option. The Goodyear 20" has the same outer diameter (33") as existing 21" and 22" options.

Future software update will allow us to pick our wheel config similar to Tesla

Hello, I work on the tire design team at Goodyear that developed the new Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT, which has been optimized specifically for the Rivian R1 Gen 2. I recently purchased a Gen 1 R1T and as you probably can guess, replaced the stock Gen 1 tire (275/65R20) with our new Goodyear Gen 2 tire (275/60R20). Of course, I am biased but I’ve been very happy with both the truck and the tires!
That's awesome!
This is the only all-terrain tire that'll be offered on Gen 2, right? I'm wondering how much priority went into the off-road performance versus on-road and efficiency. How does it compare to the Gen 1 Pirelli ATs off road? I could understand if Rivian wanted something with more emphasis on efficiency figuring that off-roaders would put their own tires on anyway.

I'd love to be able to drop from a 65 series (34") to a 60 series (33") tire via the dash sizing. If that's the case, then there's a lot of options for the 20" wheels that just aren't available now without a reprogramming by Rivian.

Those Goodyear tires on tire rack have some questionable reviews though. Snow/winter performance in the 6s is kinda dodgy at best.

I saw lots of reviews showing these tires cut easily during mild off-road usage….agree the reviews were not overwhelmingly positive.

I think this must be a complete redesign that wouldn’t have reviews yet (@B Diggs, maybe you can confirm?). I believe the Territory AT was the OEM tire on my 2022 Tacoma Off-Road… it was a pretty underwhelming tire in mud, snow, or any low-traction surface. It was quiet and comfortable. The Tacoma forums also talked a lot about weak sidewalls and easily torn tires.

Hopefully this new Rivian specific tire is better. The tread design looks completely new as well, so I’m guessing it’s an all new tire with the same name, which is promising.

On road efficiency was a higher priority, but off road performance was considered in the design of the Goodyear tire. I am not sure of the off road specific performance of the Goodyear vs Pirelli. Rivian is still offering a 34” All Terrain option for some Gen 2 trim levels.
