Upgrade Dual Standard to Dual Performance After Purchase?

I don’t believe Rivian has said but they’d be crazy not to as it’s easy money…even from the 2nd hand market.

I doubt it for the Standard pack. The shop only lists Performance as an upgrade available on Large and Max packs. For those I would agree with "maybe".

I'm curious what, if any pricing they are going to offer people on a lease. I'm going to have a hard time justifying $5k for the upgrade knowing that the car is (probably) going away in 3 years.

Seems to me they could offer prorated price through the end of the lease and then either remove it from the returned vehicle and offer the upgrade to the next customer or offer the lease return at a higher price.

I would say yes - I base that on when I originally ordered my dual motor I got a call to say that they would upgrade it to the performance if I wanted - so it must be doable, how they sell it though is another thing.

Yes they will. Rivian confirmed this to me when I was buying a dual motor R1T. They said it'll be later this year and they do not know the price.. although it'll likely be 5K to do it.

So far they have stated the LFP standard isn't capable of being upgraded.

Someone on the Rivian subreddit said they were told by customer service that Dual Max owners would be getting the upgrade for free. If that's true I'm hoping Dual Large owners get the upgrade at a discount at least.

What? I just talked to my customer service person and they did not mention this on my upcoming dual max. Seems to be a lot to give away for free

My guide said they could upgrade later but the cost would be more than getting it included with order.

I went back to the Reddit post and the person edited to state they may have misinterpreted what the CS rep said. I agree it would be a lot to give away. In my mind I was hoping it was a gesture of kindness for gen1/early adopters. I guess we'll see.
