It might have been;
https://evsportline.com/products/ri...amic-roof-sun-shade-and-reflector-by-team-1ev

It worked pretty good. I can't imagine not having a sunshade.
Last summer, I spent $1,500 getting XPEL PRIME XR PLUS based tint on ALL my R1S glass as dark as possible: 70% on roof and rear windows, 45% front row glass (MD law permits 25%), 5% windshield. and it helped a lot; however, I just ordered the EVSportLine 2 piece set since it comes w/ the clips and suction cup, magnet, and reflector.

Even though the XPEL PRIME XR PLUS claims the following, the roof glass still does not block enough heat AFAIC: nano-ceramic particle formulation blocks 99 percent of the sun’s UV rays and more than 98 percent of its heat and infrared radiation—all without the metallic ingredients other films use that can disrupt radio, cellular and Bluetooth usage inside your car.

I bought this. Reflective on one side. Fits ok. Made a big difference on radiant heat.

I had read that UV shielding tint on the sunroof could crack it, and was hesitant to install it for that reason. Two different tint installers both said that's not true, so I decided to do it for both my R1T and R1S 4 months ago. No problems thus far here in So Cal, fingers crossed.
Prior to tining I was using inside shades, those worked well (better in fact) , but obviously didn't look as nice.
I would recommend using inside mesh shades

I added UV tint to windshield at the same time I tinted my side windows and ceramic coated vehicle with a shop. Also added a EVsportsline Roof sunshade which helps but it appears they are not selling it anymore, so probably find one on AMZ. If your question is not joking around, I can think of a few reasons why placing a piece of plywood on your roof is not a good idea. Creating massive drag, creating a potential projectile are a few of the less snarky ones I can think of.
There’s some merit to the plywood idea. The air gap between the roof and sunshield is great for reducing the radiant heat to the glass.
I admit it’d take some engineering to make sure it’s correctly secured to the roof and limiting drag. Since it would have such a minimum surface area presented to the wind it shouldn’t be great, but without seeing wind tunnel effects I can’t say it would be minimal in the real world…

I have the EV Sportline panoramic sunroof shade and I like it a lot. I can set the temperature 1-2 degrees F higher in the car now, since there is less thermal radiation from the sunroof. I also have a Llumar 80 tint on the windshield which helps reduce thermal radiation a lot when I'm driving towards the sun. I'm going to add it to the front side windows soon.

I’ve been considering a tinted and IR rejecting film on the outside. That would prevent the possible issue with tinting the inside.

The tinted roof glass cracking is just a myth. The only cases I could find was for inferior cheap glass w/o any UV protection which is not the case for Rivians or any other OEM roof glass now-a-days.

Another great thing about the EVSportLine product is the removable reflector layer which gives you the best of both worlds; i.e. opaque reflector or mesh.

Plywood on a $80K vehicle, ok... maybe at least paint it the color of the vehicle or put a cool design on it

I have the highest grade, highest heat rejection, most expensive ceramic tint on my roof and all windows except fronts and windshield. I also have the darkest legally allowed ceramic tint for the fronts and windshield. My R1S is still extremely hot with interior temp reaching 125+ when it's only 84 degrees ambient outside. So I would manage your expectations on how much of an improvement you'll see with tint. It's definitely better with tint on every piece of glass but the improvement isn't night and day. Rivian desperately needs a proper sunshade for their glass roofs.

Has anyone placed a piece of plywood on the roof carriers to block out the sun? My R1S constantly reaches 125+ degrees inside. I keep reading that tinting the glass roof can create problems.
A bit like closing all of your home’s windows while away, but leaving the front door wide open. Cabin heat is from IR radiation and thermal transfer from exposed materials to everything around them. The latter, nothing you can do about on this planet (other than parking in the shade). The wide open door in this case is the untreated windshield with little to no IR rejection.

Hopefully you are being facetious about the plywood. Also, 125 isn’t that hot in terms of a vehicle sitting in the sun, you are just aware of it because the car/app gives you the information.
That said, probably the easiest, cheapest and safest way to lessen the heat effect is to buy one of the many third party roof sunshields which are easily installed with magnets or clips….

I find that simply parking in the shade (when available) makes a huge difference
