My 2022 R1T Quad has about 14,1XX miles on it and since the beginning of summer, the suspension has been making a lot more noise. Even on smooth road surfaces, when I leave from a stop I get a lot of creaks and groans and rattles. I wasn't really too worried about it, but then I got a 12V fault warning on my display so I scheduled service and added the sounds to the work list. I uploaded videos of the sounds and it was at the SC for 5 days. The advisor said they replicated the problem and replaced some suspension parts that he said had "too much play" in them when it was on the lift. I got the truck back yesterday and the problem wasn't even improved a little bit. I'm one of 3 in my friend group with an R1T. One of the other guys beats the living hell out of his truck and it doesn't make the same noises. The early build R1T loaner that I had with 30k miles on it didn't make the same noises. I scheduled it back for service but it isn't until mid September, but I'm looking for suggestions on how to describe the problem so that it can be better diagnosed this next round. Uploading the videos here to see if anyone has ideas on what it is or what language I should use when I explain it to the SC.

Have them check Gen 2 cast subframe replacement (for failed welds on front subframe) - now like a new truck! | Rivian Forum - R1T R1S R2 R3 News, Specs, Models, RIVN Stock -- Rivianforums.com

Sounds very similar to my rattles and clunks. Dampers, half-shafts, and jounce lines. My goal is to get all these replaced. Also, if I have a welded subframe, I want the new cast one instead.

Here's my suspension video:

Yeah, yours sounds exactly like what I am hearing, especially in stop and go driving.

FWIW, this is the note in the service invoice:

Cause:
- Test drove vehicle and found noise to be coming from front axle area. Installed chassis ears
and found noise to be coming from excessive play in front half shafts/front hubs. Removed and
replaced both front hubs and half shafts. Removed both rear axles and installed rear ting
washers. reassembled vehicle and found no further noises after repairs.
Correction/Remedy:
- Hub, Front, LH (Remove and Replace)
- Hub, Front, RH (Remove and Replace)
- Halfshaft, Front, LH (Remove and Replace)
- Halfshaft, Front, RH (Remove and Replace)
- Noise Vibration and Harshness General Diagnostic
- Test Drive, 30 Minutes
- Install washers on 4 halfshafts

Sounds like they got 1/3 of the possible source by replacing the half-shafts. I know they're going to hate me when I go back but I'll be the guy that says "Well, on the forum it seems like..."

Also, there's no way they drove my truck for 30 minutes. I had 1 mile added to my odometer from when I dropped it off.

That's a bit disheartening that the replacement of the halfshafts and hubs didn't fix it for you. Excessive play seems to be and issue with many early R1Ts. Not sure where you'd go from there. Maybe an issue with the front dampers?

I think its the dampers. The 2024.19 update my the sounds in my truck louder though it isn't like that. Mine just rattles over uneven road surfaces. The fact that the suspension settings were tweaked and that it got worse after the update leads me to the dampers.

Thanks for this thread. I need to show this to my service center as I am headed back after they failed to fix it the first time. It seems to be getting worse by the day. Attached is my very similar sound. '22 R1S Vin 24xx
