I'm leaving for a road trip Sunday. It would be nice to have the camera view by then. If I don't get it by Saturday I'll wait til we get back. Doing updates away from home sounds like asking for trouble.

Installed and Live view is pretty cool. 4 angles front, back, left and right. It’s at home in the garage and it’s set to be off but it can be woken up remotely.

So far so good. Haven't driven it, but install is complete, live Gear Guard not working though. I'll try again in the morning, thinking it just might not be enabled yet on their end. I am on the most recent version of their Android app.

Ha ha, did the plastic tiles instead of epoxy paint when we moved in 4 years ago. Best decision ever, looks finished, does not fade and will probably last another 15 years.

Question for the braintrust... I will be away from home over the next week, but the truck will be on wifi where we are going, just a different house. When the update is ready for me, does it matter that I'm not at "home" to get the update, that I'm in a different location?

Doesn't matter I've had updates pop up on the screen while at the beach and in the mountains.

I don't do updates while traveling just in case something happens and typically wait to get back home. Part of this is because I'm usually in poor connection areas and still worried about an issue that requires a tow as that can ruin a vacation/trip really quickly.

Yes. You can do updates anywhere. I did my last one at Citifield while I was at a Mets game. Came out and was able to change my color to orange to match the team!

I usually do a PDF compare of the owner's guide for each new version compared to the previous version. I typically find a bunch of changes that aren't in the release notes. This time around, though, there was really not much at all. One interesting thing is that they documented several additional details related to features from the last update, I saw multiple instances of that.

Ignoring items mentioned in the release notes already (and the additions related to previous feature updates), the only real other changes in the new doc were super minor clarifications related to WiFi (I am only looking at Gen1 R1T):

• Clarified that instead WiFi SSID cannot contain escape, newline, CR, or tab (previously it said no special characters at all).
• Also clarified that WiFi doesn't support WPA3 encryption
