I had these put on at Discount Tire this week. DT had some trouble locating them but I told them to look them up on Tire Rack and they found them. Tires were installed quickly and professionally. Here are some notes...

Rivian support had advised me prior to purchasing these that they would not install them at the SC but they would recalibrate my speedo after I had them installed at DT. They even made an appointment for next week for me to get this done, saying it was a super fast and simple procedure....but....Today I received a chat from the SC to tell me that support had unfortunately misinformed me about being able to recalibrate my Gen1 system for my new tires. I am disappointed but not super surprised based on B Diggs warning and what continues to be abysmal internal communications at Rivian. Shame on me for thinking that they would have one hand talking to the other at the company after my 2.5 years of ownership. Oh well hopefully they will let us update this ourselves at some point. Its not a huge deal but kind of annoying to say the least.

I had the AT 20" Pirellis with 21K miles on them. I had 5 and rotated in the spare. They still had some life in them with 6-10 32nds, but the noise drove me nuts. Lifetime efficiency was 2.11. I was able to sell these on FB marketplace in a day. Didn't get a ton of money but almost paid for 1 new tire lol.

The new tires were immediately much quieter. Like night and day. I would say similar to the Pirellis when new but that was 2.5 years ago so hard to compare new vs new. But it blew my mind on the first drive how loud the Pirellis had gotten. I had forgotten what the motors sounded like. Also the stereo sounds much better at speed without the howling tires.

I haven't put on many miles so efficiency is TBD. I'll report back after some miles. Right now it seems like ride / handling is similar. Maybe a touch harsher over uneven pavement but that may be due to noticing suspension clunks easier due to the quieter cabin. I haven't really ripped around much in these enough yet to comment on handling.

I would say the new tires look great. I do think the Pirellis look marginally better on the truck with the larger diameter and more aggressive tread and sidewall. But the new ones look really really good to my eye and I think you may have to be looking for these differences to even notice. They certainly don't look too small in the wheel wells. Some may argue they are a more appropriate size but its a matter of taste. Overall I have no regrets if the overall noise, handling, efficiency, and snow performance are at least as good or better than the Pirellis.

Rivian still specs the Pirellis in their "All Terrain" package for Gen2 and the Goodyears go on their "All Season" package. This is not a big deal for non-off-roader like me, but something for others to consider. I will say that the Goodyears look somewhat less aggressive and more all-season-y to my eye. If that translates to better range and less noise I am all for it.

Overall 2 days in I am really happy I pulled the trigger.

Looking at these tires on Tire Rack, they give you an option for which side you want mounted facing out, because apparently there’s a different design on each side. However, I can’t find any pictures illustrating the two sides, or even a description of what the difference is.

Does anyone have pictures of the two sides?

Weird, Tire Rack specifically asks if you want the ‘alternate design’ hidden or visible.

There are some tires that have different inboard/outboard designs, but this one is the same design on both sides.

My efficiency after 1,000 miles. It’s been fluctuating higher and lower than the Pirellis. I expect they will be comparable otherwise Rivian would not stock them.

Still have noise starting at 53mph. Doesn’t sound as bad as before but could be I’m just getting used to it.

There’s no magic bullet here with these tires. Range seems comparable, little more noise but cheaper than Pirellis. Performance in snow and off-road yet to be determined.

IMO they’re worth a try but there are pros and cons just like the Pirellis.

Ask the SC to recalibrate your truck to 21s. They can, and I know they have for other people.

Just got these from Tire Rack and had Discount Tire put them on. Have a replacement ordered on one of them because it wouldn't balance to their specs (I don't know anything about tires, but the "Road Force" was 70 and they want it more like 20. Tire Rack is shipping a new tire under warranty as I type.) They still mounted everything and put that tire in the back passenger side, can't really tell. I had to order from Tire Rack and have them shipped to my house because Discount Tire still doesn't have the tire in their system.

Have only driven a couple hundred miles, so no worthwhile efficiency numbers to report other than it seems about the same as my 21's.

I replaced my 21-inch wheels with the @Atomic Wheels AWR1 from here: https://atomic-wheels.com/collectio...ducts/awr1-for-rivian-r1t-r1s-awr1-228540bgr1. Incidentally I had a little trouble with the wheels I ordered from them (they were stolen from UPS, if you can believe it,) but they made good on it and quickly which was a relief. And the wheels look great (in my opinion.)

My range/efficiency is actually lower now than the AT Pirellis after the initial 1,000 miles. I think someone else also said their efficiency numbers were lower after the break-in period. What's strange is that the efficiency was higher during the initial 1,000 miles.

I'm getting 2.17m/kwh on miles 1,000 to 1,200 which would be 2.10 after the 3% adjustment.

Maybe the change in diameter without recalibrating the tire size in the system is throwing the way the truck calculates efficiency?

If these numbers are correct, it would be a bummer.

Performance in snow and off-road yet to be determined.
I'm ready to pull the trigger, but this is my hesitation. I want to see some Rivian snow performance. The Pirelli was trash on snowy roads and almost put us into a wall, my Falkens are great and never slipped once.

Seasons are changing, perhaps it's a temperature issue instead? Battery, tires (pressure too), etc. My AS+3s have dropped as well, tis the season.

I expect the Wranglers performance to be comparable to the Pirellis, not great, decent at best if you drive cautiously.

Season is ideal right now. Low 60s overnight, low 80s during the day. Battery temp is around 75-80 degrees usually and my tires are at 50psi cold. Mixed driving conditions and I don't drive aggressively. AC use is minimal. If anything I'm using less AC and driving slower to really eek out the miles but I'm still at 2.17m/kwh.

It's just so strange that my efficiency after 1,000 miles is less than before that mark.

@B Digs what say you? Any thoughts?

@J400, I would see what Rivian says about your efficiency and noise concerns at your upcoming service appointment.

In my experience, the efficiency improved as the tire was broken in.

As for winter performance, this was definitely factored in to the design of the Goodyear tire.
