For a moment, I thought instead of a spare tire the rear case was going to be a digital jerry can with an extra 20-30 miles of range. That would have been a neat addition, but heavy as fuck for the door hinges.

Easy enough to replicate with R1. You just need a friend, a recovery rope, and 4 banana peels.

It must be nice to be able to choose when you're going to be "environmentally conscious".
No tank turn because it's bad for the environment, but it's okay to waste 1-1.5kW of energy per day X 95,000 vehicles on vampire drain. Do that math on that one and keep in mind the "average" US household consumes 900kWh of electricity/month.

Tank Turn's primary use case would be "Hold My Beer". We are better off not having it.

While I definitely agree that a tank turn would be ridiculous on the vehicle and the terrain I feel like an offroad turning assist would be useful. They could implement it in a way to simply make tighter turns that wouldn't really do much to the vehicle or terrain. (basically just making the outer wheels in a turn go faster than what they do on the inside)

People complain about needing new tires after 16,000 miles of ripping around, imagine after tank turning a half dozen times.
Yes I agree, but Americans are obsessed with the freedom to be destructive as long as it is their choice, they will pay for the tires. If it was a tax expense, they would die to avoid paying it.
This is not a political statement, it's a cultural statement.

SO well implemented by MB with many fail safes and situational awareness. This should be no problem for Rivian to implement. SO Cool!!
Because it’s destructive and the founder said no. Besides very few actually need it so why waste the time and money on it when they have other simpler issues to fix?

The answer I got from the head of engineering was risk aversion. The vehicle has a tendancy to drift a bit, vs just spinning in circles. Throw that in with 800 hp and you have a recipe for accidents.
