I decided not do the mirror tap since I'm too chicken to try to rip off the cover and went with the obdii running the wire underneath the dash to top of driver side windshield. I have the valentine 2 on all the time and it turns off when the vehicle go to sleep mode. About 10 to 15 mins. No issues with 12v battery that I see.Has anyone who’s done the mirror tap, run into any 12v battery drain issues? I know one comment said the drain is so minimal we shouldn’t worry but I notice mine on from time to time in the garage (without my phone). My Uniden R8 is on battery saver mode but it turns on whenever the car wakes up. Any reason for me to be concerned?
What did you use for a mounting bracket?Just hardwired an escort 360 redline radar detector through the mirror power on a 2025 R1S. Worked perfectly. Here are the wires I tapped into.
Removing the cover was scary but actually easy, just pulled it from the gap in the front as the video suggested and it came right off. Didn't use any tools. Reinstalling it was even easier it just snapped right into place.
Thank you to all of you that were brave enough to go before me and share your journey on here.

I'm trying to figure that out now, researching options. Nothing seems easy. Using suction cup for now. What did you use for a mounting bracket?
This is definitely the best way to mount the R7/8. I bought a few different clips people recommended but Velcro won and still going strong. After seeing the poor built in dashcam quality I decided to install a regular dashcam. This meant relocating my radar detector.
I don't think anyone did this before and I thought it was kind of neat so here are the pics. So simple and works beautifully with my Uniden. The only button I hit on a regular basis is the mute which is on the side.

I know this was a while ago but if you're still around, what did you do to get the mount to go in far enough for the nut to have enough to grab onto? Thanks @SwampNut for the idea. Little to no vibration at all. All in for about $15-20 compared to blendmounts $170 +shipping
By the way, Rivian quoted that trim cover around $26. So nothing really lost if someone messes up and needs a new trim piece.
1/4” threads and drill bit, FYI
the socket set (metal threaded part)… idk what to call it wasn’t long enough to thread into the nylon part of the nut. I’m sure loctite will work too.

In this thread alone you'll see examples of Blendmount meant for other cars. It may or may not work for the very reason Blendmount says they have nothing for the Rivian—not enough space on the stem of the mirror to allow enough range of adjustment for the mirror itself. So pending your seating position, you may not be able to tilt the mirror enough.Any one have tried installing the radar detector to the mirror, i have checked with blendmount and they said none of their mounts would work for Rivian. Recently i came across roadspy who have solution which works for not just radar detectors but other applications too. All they want is 10-12 folks showing interest from the community and they can get started in building a mount for our rivian vehicles. Will appreciate if you guys can leave a note to them on their contact page.

2 years later, and I was struggling with the same problem. Thanks for the good suggestion. Finally got the bugger back on.I did the same. It twists on. Start about a third of a turn from straight(line up the three tabs) push hard against the windshield and turn. It took me a few tries but I got it back on.
