Does anyone else encounter issues with the new Automatic Front Camera in Park Assistant interfering with Car Wash mode?

When I pull up to the loading track for the automatic car wash and attempt to initiate Car Wash Mode, the vehicle detects the approaching brushes and activates the park assist camera just before I press the Shift to Neutral button. This action completely covers the screen, preventing me from returning to the original screen.

To resume the car wash, I have to scramble back to the screen and quickly press the Shift to Neutral button. This process is challenging and risky, especially considering the potential for Park Assist to remain active during the wash. Consequently, I’ve resorted to disabling Park Assist manually before each wash to avoid any potential complications.

I believe this issue would greatly enhance the user experience and I’m curious if anyone else has encountered similar problems. It would be convenient to have the Park Assist camera layers under the vehicle menu in such cases, or alternatively, shifted to the right. Layering the camera seems more logical to me. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I encountered the same thing. In the upper left corner there is a X to close the small screen to reveal the car wash control

I will try some of these suggestions and see if these are better solutions. Thanks!

I agree, simple fix would be to disable park assist in car wash mode.... Hope they implement that, seems simple

The problem is you can be in carwash mode already, but when pull onto track the camera view covers the NEUTRAL button

Simplest fix would be to update to disable park assist in car wash mode

Until then X out of camera or use stalk to go to neutral

I got so frustrated trying to hit the "Shift to Neutral" button on the Car Wash screen that I switched to using the stalk and have never looked back. It takes a little practice to not put it in reverse, but once you've done it a couple of times it's second nature. In the car wash I use the first brushes are further away so the parking assist camera hasn't been an issue.

I completely agree; this seems like the best solution. Navigating onto the conveyor belt, activating Car Wash mode, and shifting into Neutral is already a delicate process. Plus, I often have to disregard the attendant directing me to stop too soon—usually with the rear wheels barely on the belt while the front conveyor attempts to pull this heavy vehicle in. This often results in the belt slipping until I pull up a bit further.

A fix in the upcoming updates would be greatly appreciated, as there are just too many steps to remember to turn off, only to have to remember to reactivate everything afterward.

While fixing the car wash mode also allow pushing the neutral button without putting foot on brake... Truck should know it's in car wash, not moving under own power... Seems low risk to allow push button neutral

That’s a very valid point! I’d be perfectly fine with a double confirmation if there’s a need for it. That’s an unnecessary complication. Unlike most cars, the Rivian can enter Drive mode on the way out without applying the brakes. So, why not do the same when you’re coming in? I hope the stress-reducing car wash mode features are now available during the next update.

By the way, other than here, where can you submit app fix and feature recommendations directly to Rivian? Seems like it would be nice and smart for them to have that in the vehicle UI.

I put my truck in car wash mode well before being on deck for the washing machine. Put it in neutral with brake pedal and stalk. None of these problems.

So to confirm you are saying you put Car Wash mode “on” once you arrive to the car wash location, and do the neutral part once on the conveyor and you don’t have the park assist front cam does not come on to interrupt with the need to "X" out?

This is exactly what I do...When I pull into my car wash I pull up to the gate where it reads my license plate (I do an unlimited monthly). While waiting the 3-5 seconds for the gate to go up, I put the Rivian in Car Wash mode and then drive the 30 feet to the tunnel entrance - below 10 MPH (car wash mode turns off automatically if you hit 12 mph). They direct me onto the conveyor and tell me when to put the vehicle into neutral, at which time I touch the brake and lightly lift up on the stalk and it goes into neutral.

Enable car wash mode before you pull up to the track….once enabled, it stays on for (some period of time) so long as you remain under ~ 10mph
