I received my replacement shipping notice yesterday. Hats off to A2Z for their responsiveness and making this process straightforward.
I haven't received the disposal instructions for the old unit. They may be included with the new adapter. I'm assuming it will involve electronics recycling and not sending it to a landfill.

I submitted my return on 11/7 and received approval yesterday "We are happy to inform that your Exchange request has been approved."

Probably will take a bit of time but they should honor it. Sad to see people trying to game their generosity with false claims.

Submitted request per their instructions on Nov 7. Got the replacement yesterday. I'll say, bang on to them for making this level of exchange - no upcharge for a better version of the original product which only presented a possible issue after 10,000 use cycles.

It's not just that. It's been mentioned that it's Tesla who objects to the old design being suitable as well. They think it's perfectly safe, but Tesla doesn't.

Basically, if they want to become 'tesla certified' and officially a recommended adapter for Tesla and other OEMs (Ford just bought, and shipped thousands of Lectron brand adapters as 'officially approved), they have to cave to their demands. If they don't, then no other OEM or Vehicle maker will buy them en-masse for their customers like Ford has for lectron.

Tesla is essentially waving millions of dollars of future revenue over their heads saying 'make the changes/swaps or we don't green light you'

I'm willing to bet $5 that their instructions for the old one will just be 'recycle at your nearest capable recycling location' and that's it. Knowing that people will keep them and keep using them.

That way they can tell Tesla 'We gave them all new ones, and told them to dispose of the old ones. If they use them after this, that's on them, not us.' They just want the 'we did what you wanted' checkbox from Tesla.

Tesla doesn’t approve of any third party adapters for use with its superchargers so I don’t think this is what’s happening.
