Kit for gutting the Camp Speaker, converting it to storage.

The Camp speaker is a very low functioning asset, if it works at all. It is lockable, it is next to power it is doable. Someone please experiment and design a solution to this problem, what do you have to lose, a speaker?

A kit would sell either in a DIY, or a finished product, this is a niche that is begging to be served, or is it just me?

BTW, "Location" in the thread posting is other because worldwide was not an option.

Im surprised that someone hasn’t gutted the speaker and removed the speaker grill on top to turn into a lockable storage space. Maybe once electrical components are missing ,the computer wouldn’t be able to sense the speaker is there and wouldn’t be able to lock. Maybe if someone could ask a Rivian engineer. I’m not willing to try with mine, but there is a guy selling the camp speakers on eBay for 400$ if someone wanted to try and report back to us. ?

That’s cool but I would rather have it lock more securely from the rear on the bottom like the oem speaker does. ?

It does lock from the rear, just like the OEM speaker. The car detects it like a speaker and allows you to lock the latching mechanism through the center console screen controls, just like the speaker.

What is it about the camp speaker that makes it useless? I know it’s a common conclusion. I haven’t extensively used mine yet, but I’ve easily paired my phone to it and played music from Apple Music without issue.

Jim -- I made that drawer! Thank you for having purchased one, and mentioning it here. I'm always working on improving the print quality, and choosing better materials. I'm now printing them exclusively in ASA which is heat resistant and prints with a nicer, smoother finish.

Yes. You can open the drawer I made when the cup holder is open and in use.

The speaker does not lock if it’s gutted, since it needs the electronics inside to be able to communicate with the truck to be able to lock itself.

Still a descrete place to hide stuff, I would buy a kit that offered storage.

Doesn’t Rivian offer a storage drawer there now as the default instead of the speaker? I had the drawer configured on my new one, but took a shop truck that had the speaker. I paid 500 bucks for something I liked less to get my truck now but such is life.

I think a hundred dollar or so product could be offered that would fit the place. A locking one may double the price, but for some that would be a reasonable price.

Most expensive drawer option but probably the best on the market right now, even if you could buy the OEM drawer from Rivian. The finger print ones I've seen are similar price but whats the point if anyone can unlock/remove from the touchscreen. I waited until the black friday/month price, but I do have this drawer now and it is solid and more clean than most 3d printed stuff.
