I know this topic has been sprinkled all over but there is no dedicated thread.

When you think of adventure Garmins are on the top of our minds. And when Rivians are associating with adventure it should follow right?

Any technical limitations why this cannot be done?

Noob here. Has it been implemented on Apple and Samsung watches? If yes, then it seems like a no brainer. If no, it seems like those two would be higher priority (though I get your point re: adventure).

As a Garmin owner, I honestly figured it would be one of the first smart watches to have that feature.

Reality is, the soccer mom crowd with their Apple Watches have squeakier wheels, and will be getting the grease.

Agree. Garmin would be super helpful for out doing running and hiking activities though. Have just been using the card for things where I want to leave my phone in the vehicle.

Me as well. The card is honestly very easy to stow or pack with you. Watch access would be preferred as you said.

The Garmin lacks the modern chipsets and tech to do this the right way. It could be cobbled in using the old tech, but Rivian isn't going to do that. A third party theoretically could.

And the Ultra version of the Apple Watch is far more adventurous than the Garmin, which is pretty cute if you think "adventure" includes a Starbucks at the end of the half mile trail.

Ultra is nothing more than a flex for the occasional weekend warrior.

LMAO let me know when Apple makes a watch that has solar power and a battery that lasts 2 weeks without charging.

Apple apparently thinks adventures have a max time limit of 72 hours.

Which "the" garmin would you be referring to? There are a lot including the flagship Fenix, but then all of the spin off watches for running, diving, tactical, etc.

All of that said, I don't have high hopes for the Garmin usage in this case. Garmin has really focused on their outdoor activity support and continues to move away from things like payments through the watch (just some Visas, no Amex, no other), etc so I don't see them putting out hardware that could support this.

Which part? About the lack of the necessary tech for WaaK, or the fact that they are for posers to show off when holding their chai latte up high?

Let me know when Garmin makes a watch with a useful screen and the myriad other things it's missing. Solar was such a hilarious add-on, truly marketing at it's best.

Also, do not take me too seriously on poking fun at it.

When in doubt resort to ad hominem.

Like most Garmin wearers, I prefer my coffee black and my tea in the harbor thank you very much. I can proudly say that I've never consumed a chai latte and I don't plan on starting.

Completely disagree. All of the serious athletes I know have Garmin or COROS. No one uses Apple watches. My wife and I are both big cyclists and tried the Apple watch for a couple of years but are back to Garmin. Garmin has superior metrics, ANT+ compatibility, and as others mentioned, the battery life. Sure the screen isn't as fancy, but I didn't buy Garmin watch for stripped down apps that could be accessed on my phone, I use the Garmin watch 99% for health and fitness tracking / metrics. My phone does everything else.
