Yea that’s a good idea. Maybe I can send my new drawer design back to Rivian to put a new microprocessor board so it would again be able to communicate with the locking mechanism underneath the center console.
You can do it with a resister soldered between the contacts on the board on the speaker housing that connects to the vehicle. We added the spare board to the EV Sportline gun box and it works for the most part. Needs a little more refinement and/ or a 3D printed clip to hold it firmly in place.

Wow… a quad core ARM A53 processor and a GPU. I’m guessing the Camp speaker is capable of so much more than it’s being used for. No wonder it’s so expensive ?
The GPU is on C405 only, so the camp speaker doesn't have (or need) it. The C404 still looks like quite the processor though, and also WiFi capable. Not sure if Rivian plans to ever OTA update the camp speaker, to at least get rid of its annoyingly loud chimes (more like grunts) that I hear randomly once a while. Probably way down low on their priority list.

OP- Thanks for doing this. I would love to have locking storage (for keys, multi-tool, etc) and never use the speaker. Sad that it won’t lock. Hard to believe Rivian hasn’t come out with a replacement. I would buy it!

Just saw your post, DrBluey. Thanks

I have never had an issue with my 3D printed drawer dislodging. I just keep my NACS adapter in it though

That’s a fine print right there. Man, FDM has come a long way…

I gutted an extra Camp Speaker that I had and wanted an OEM empty drawer to put things like an extra roll of toilet paper maybe. Yes it’s nice to have another place to store stuff out of the way from eyes walking by my truck. One disappointment is the fact that it doesn’t lock. For some reason the design team built it that way so it wouldn’t lock if the speaker didn’t communicate that it was there. I have a working camp speaker that I can use if I ever decide to have a loud speaker to disturb the campsite beside mine if I choose to be a happy camper. Check out my picks and let me know what you think of my 300$ empty small new storage space.
