This is a solid update.

So happy we're getting some Christmas theming as I wasn't expecting any and very excited about YouTube and Google Cast. Couldn't really care less about the Netflix thing, I watch it like two times a year anyway.

I imagine netflix will work eventually. They probably had some issue but wanted to get Casting out the door.

Given that the truck runs Android Automotive, the Netflix issue is probably very similar to how it is on the Android TV side of things. Most streaming apps just require a Widevine L1 DRM certification to play back in HD, but Netflix requires the specific device to be certified by them to support video playback beyond 480p. My guess is Rivian either didn't want to wait for that, or didn't want to play ball with Netflix at all (or Netflix didn't want to play ball with Rivian).

Hopefully they get it in the future, but not the end of the world if they don't.

Good update. Even the “Rivian stole my internet” whiners are getting a preview of Google cast and YouTube :giggle:

So.... I'm curious about this. What exactly does "most" mean? Is this an issue with DHCP protected content? Is this just netflix specifically not playing nice? (they have been known to be bullies at times) So many questions
Yes. Netflix clamping down. Greedy pieces of sh@$

I will be first in line for the Gen 2 key FOB.
I will be there as well! Here’s hoping it’s not like the console organizer and constantly out of stock…

  • Performance and Usability Updates:
    • Improved ride height adjustments and acceleration response.
    • Faster DC fast charging for vehicles with Large and Max battery packs.
    • Enhanced cabin heating for colder climates.
I’m excited about these potential improvements Or any improvements that improve ride and the daily DRIVING experience. Google Cast and YouTube? - meh. The idea of sitting around in my car watching videos on the center display just seems frickin’ weird to me. I guess if one has kids in the back to keep entertained, then it might have some value. I’ve heard that it might give a person something to do while camping. Man, that is a different kind of camping than I like to do. I go camping to get away from that shit. About the last thing I want to be doing while camping is sitting in my car watching videos. But clearly, some will enjoy these entertainment additions, so I’m happy for them ✌

99% of the reason is for when sitting 40 minutes while charging on road trips.
