Storing vehicle, no charging available

Next month I will need to store my R1T gen 1 for 3 months. I'll most likely store at a storage facility with no access to charging. Any suggestions on not coming home to a brick?

Inside storage? I had to store a Vette for several months a bunch of years ago, I rented a storage locker big enough to fit the vehicle, it had a 110 outlet I plugged a battery tender in.

110 would be all you need to plug the portable charger in to keep the batteries happy while you are gone.

Then expected vampire drain is 1% per month or so. But the truck will be complete offline

I don’t think that power station has a big enough inverter or capacity to sustain even a level 1 charge…

On the other hand, if you went with that power station, you could put a battery tender on it running right to the 12v battery.

Your biggest risk is the 12v battery going dead. If it will be outside and get some sunlight, I would just get some sort of 12v solar recharger and run it to the 12v battery. Even if it’s a temporary setup using alligator clips to the battery terminals. It would not have to be that powerful maybe 20 watts. There are a bunch on Amazon for less than $100.

You don't even need to disconnect the 400V battery pack, disconnecting the 12V batts will get you to 1% loss/month because none of the subsystems are running with the 12V batts disconnected.

It's been done by more then one forum member, one had his Rivian in a shipping container for several weeks with the 12V battery disconnected, he experienced almost no drain on the 400V battery over the 3 week duration.

I've made several 12V Lithium batteries for our boat (and for booster/gen packs) from individual cells and a BMS. If I disconnect the BMS, they only lose about 1% to 2% per month over the winter.

I think this is probably the best suggestion.

FWIW, my R1T sat for 6 months (starting at not sure what SoC) and I was able to revive it with jumping the wires by the hitch and then a booster pack to the frunk battery. Was rough, but allowed me to drive it 1/4 mile on 0% to our charger. I'm certain that it drained the HV battery trying to keep the 12v topped off.

Disconnecting everything will limit any drain on battery other than entropy.

Make sure you have a small jumper/booster pack when you return.

Might have to go to SC to clear 12v battery errors and get software caught up to date.
