Does anyone know the cut off for Gen1 R1T welded subframes? I am VIN 27XX

I think it was end of Feb/23. Mine is 22xxx (March 23) and it has a new front subframe.Does anyone know the cut off for Gen1 R1T welded subframes? I am VIN 27XX
I’ve been wondering about this for other things. Any suggestions on how to go about trying to do this in the Southern California/Central Coast area?Find a set on a crashed Rivian.
If it's a '22 then you definitely have welded original subframe.Does anyone know the cut off for Gen1 R1T welded subframes? I am VIN 27XX
This is -exactly- the way to look at it. You could even stash a monthly payment in a maintenance account if you want. Two ways to look at the service after warrenty cost.
I look at it differently, in California if I trade my 2022 in after 4 years and it is worth 50k, the replacement is 115k the difference is 65k. At 115k it will cost around 12k for tax and license, we are up to 77k. The difference in annual registration for the next 4 years between the 22 and 26 would be about 2500 so I’m out of pocket 79.5k.
If I’m still happy with my 22 after warrenty I can get an awful lot of repairs completed for 79.5k.
I used the same logic on my 2016 Tesla when it went out of warrenty, granted I had the extra benefit in that it has lifetime free Supercharging and premium connectivity, but have spent less than 4k in repairs since then. Replaced leaking center screen, onboard charger, and one rear door window regulator.
We are still using the Tesla, the plan is to replace it with an R2 in 2026. As a matter of fact, took the Tesla on a 6500 mile trip around the country earlier this year, total cost of charging was zero so that takes a good size bite out of the 4k in repairs. ?
ok, so you missed one digit in VIN when you posted. Yours is definitely has a new subframe, Mine is 220xx and it has a new subframe,.Mine is a 2023 model. Last 5 of VIN 227XX
This was pretty common on the early Model S/X screens. There was a period of time where you could upgrade to the then current spec newer computers (MCU 2) for $1500. It came with all new screens and a much more responsive computer--almost like getting a new car. That was a fairly common fix at the time for the leaking screens, which were a few hundred bucks alone if you were out of warranty.Apparently they have some heavy viscosity fluid in the screens, it was slowly leaking out the bottom making a mess in the cubby below.
No one more surprised than I of this odd issue. ?
Agreed. Mine was a late February '2023 build (picked it up March 31), vin 19xxx and it has the cast subframe. Pretty easy to crawl under there and visually verify, fwiw.I think it was end of Feb/23. Mine is 22xxx (March 23) and it has a new front subframe.
I just do not get how dampers can wear out at 20k. No way that can happen unless you abuse the car or they were defectiveMine had a front and rear replaced at around 20 thousand. I'm going to set a service appointment just. Before my warranty is up and have them checked.
The other explanation (and I tend to believe this more and more) that they just replaced them without verifying that it was actually needed. Not abused. I thought it was just defective but after reading this I'm worried!
OK so this is what got replaced for the subframe in addition to drive unit...The connection stuff was replaced but kept parts. All the connection areas basically replaced. Drives awesome now.
