Hey all. Picking up an R1T Thursday. Have to put on winter tires. Place I called recommended Nokian or Michelin but leaned towards Michelin a bit more, their X-Ice Snow tire. What do folks here recommend? What are your experiences with winter tires for your Rivian. Thanks.

Lots of threads on here about this topic, definitely do a search and you’ll get plenty of info. I use Blizzaks - happy with them.

And welcome to the club!
Thanks! Are your Blizzaks 115 or 116 load rating if I may ask? This seems to be a great debate.

I would very highly recommend Nokian. We have the Hakkapeliitta 10s on our R1S here in Colorado and they are outstanding. They are really the best winter tires on the market. Before de-musk-ification I had Hakkapeliitta 3s on my model Y and my wife had Hakkapeliitta 5s on her model 3. Again, they were fantastic. Check out their ratings and Nokian in general. Best out there!!

Going to depend on which wheels / stock tires your truck is coming with. This is my second winter running the Bridgestone Blizzak LT and I have no complaints. I had the OE 20s at 275/65R20 and wound up buying a second set of wheels to run the winters. Next season I may give the Nokian LT3 a try, which is Rivian's recommendation for a 275/65R20 winter tire. If you have 275/60R20, 275/55R21, or 275/50R22 then you'll want to look at other options if you're not going to get a second set of wheels, OE or aftermarket. The 275/60R20 size is the same diameter as the OE 21s and 22s for a 20" wheel.

I have had the X Ice on other vehicles, but I have Hakka R5 SUV on my R1T and they are better in every way.

I just ordered a set of Atomic AW01 wheels for the R1S and discount tire had Blizzak on sale 16% off. That seems like a no-brainer for me. I’ll get them mounted Friday and see how it goes.

Running the Blizzack LT’s on my R1T and they are great. Comfortable, very quiet and confidence inspiring traction. These are the 275/65R20.

I went with Nokians based on the official recommendation from Rivian and a lot of positive reviews here. If you follow the Rivian recommendations you get the same tire circumference as your stock tires, so there is no need to recalibrate the wheels/tires.

Thanks all for the replies. Think I'll go with the Nokian R5s then. A question that is creeping up as I research. Should I get new wheels too and down to 20s for the winter? I was hoping to keep the original Sport wheels for winter and then get new summer wheels but should I do the reverse? How are the 22 wheel size in snow?

I bought a set of Rivian 22” wheels for our Nokian Hakkas and they have been fine here in the Denver area.
