Totally agree. And that is shitty. It wasn’t a selling point for me either way, but they know it is for many and they should have undersold it. The internet (and Godfodders) never forget.Maybe in '23, but when I met RJ in '20, he told me to my face that it was L3 capable. A comment he reiterated to my face in '21, and a statement that was reiterated to me by my Guide, the test drive associate, and the delivery person in '22...
So the only people who knew it wasn't L3 capable were the ones lying to our faces.
I totally get your point. I just don't agree with you. Ordered my R1T in July 2020. Got my first R1T (first EV period) July 1, 2022. I've now put 100,000 miles combined on three of them.I agree
Remember the podcast where he said we'd get the redesigned phone charger... 2 years ago...RJ said it was being released in a couple weeks on a podcast recently.
They did make the claim up to and after the first deliveries, read through this thread. My memory might be off, but I'm fairly confident they backed away from and Level 3 self driving claims long before the first deliveries started. I started looking at the Rivian website around the time of the Motortrend review, and I don't recall seeing any mention of Level 3 autonomy at that point.
This is the first time I've even seen it referenced.
I don't think Rivian owes anyone anything if it wasn't part of what is marketed as a capability (current or future) at the time of delivery. There were a number of early capabilities & features that had been mentioned or teased that never made it to delivery. Just because it was mentioned doesn't mean Rivian owes you Tank Turn or a winch.
I would feel different if Rivian was making claims that L3 autonomy would be supported in the future at the time of purchase.
Are you kidding me??There were supply chain issues due to covid. Rivian couldn't put in the cameras and tech they wanted to because it was either too expensive or unavailable due to the reduced production and factory shutdowns. Just like tons of legacy manufacturers shipped vehicles without features they were supposed to have during that same time period.
I don't know what recognizing it now is going to do, there's nothing that can be done about it.
No I'm not kidding you. Apparently you forgot about the global pandemic. You should be happy you got a car at all from a startup during one of the worst periods in recent history to be an automotive startup. Are you kidding me??
Have you never watched their promo video of their “best in class” camera suite system from gen 1 launch. I swear they made it sound like it’s the creme de la creme of automotive camera systems. It was all designed and built from the ground up according to Rivian.
And, you’re saying they didn’t get what they wanted?
Who’s lying?
I have the same version on my Y and it almost rear ended a car today, had to hit the brakes hard and swerve into another lane. 99% good FDS is 0% good FSD in my mind. I try it ever once in a while and it's 100% no where near unsupervised unless Tesla is taking on responsibility for FSD error that result in accidents. Spoiler alert, Tesla isn't and won't be.My FSD on HW4 is one step away from full on robotaxi.
Are you on HW3 or HW4 and what FSD version? Mine is very smooth stopping for cars. HW3 was much worse. I've not heard of FSD rear ending people in the forums or anything.I have the same version on my Y and it almost rear ended a car today, had to hit the brakes hard and swerve into another lane. 99% good FDS is 0% good FSD in my mind. #UnsungZerThings change. Get over it.
Tesla doesn't make a real SUV. Only a smallish crossover. I still love the Rivian, just wish it had FSD.If you are dissatisfied with Rivian or your vehicle I have an idea. Trade it in and get something else. Just another suggestion since Tesla is so great; trade in on a Tesla. I hear their sales are rapidly slowing (for some unknown reason), and they are giving very high trade offers right now (seriously).
