So I've been snooping around Electrafi, anxiously awaiting more details about the 2025.6 update. And I happened to notice something odd about the only recorded vehicle that's installed this update.

It's a 2025 R1S quad - according to electrafi... except... it's got a history going all the way back to 2023 so..... Is Rivian re-using vins for internal test vehicles? Is electrafi just confusing two vehicles for the same one?

This is of 0 consequence, but I just thought it was kinda funny.

I'm also kinda surprised that they allow internal test vehicles to be on electrafi at all, tbh. But hey, I'm not complaining. Gives us a heads up when something new is coming our way

I would think they would test the update on gen 1 then gen 2. Electrafi probably has it wrong. Can’t reuse a vin

Sounds like a lab test unit.

Might be a bug when a vehicle is traded in? No idea how electrifi does it, but if they are going off of something like a vehicle slot instead of a vin, this might happen.

Yeha that thought crossed my mind as well. Team HASS here, so I've got no insight on electrafi. That would make sense, though!

Part of the VIN is the model year, so it's not possible to have the same VIN on a '23 and on a '25. I'm not sure where Electrafi is getting the model year from...possibly it is self-reported?

The full production test vehicles have a regular VIN with XXXX as the last four digits. Those get crushed after long term testing. Some of those get repurposed as test mules for future production vehicles... ie new R1 motor/ drive configurations, R2 drive platforms. At least that is what I'm told. Maybe electrifi is seeing one of those.
