Hi, rolling down the road and both screens reboot simultaneously! Was a little scary as I did not know if the whole truck was shutting down, should I pull over?? What would cause that? It was unprovoked and "out of the blue".

Does happen but rare and doesn’t stop the car running so continue driving and have fun in your Rivian.

On our gen1 rivians this has occurred once in 24 months of total ownership. Our gen2 has been rebooting on average every 60 miles or so - they are now replacing the AXM ECU as a result. I’d not worry too much if it happens once every 20k miles or so.

It has happened to me once as well. I was diving home after work at 60 MPH. The displays went black except the speed. The truck kept running, so I kept driving and after a minute of 2 they displayed rebooted and everything was fine.

It happened to me constantly a while back after an update, then the next update fixed

Then this last update happened and it did it twice, again. The third time it decided to stick to a reboot loop, loading the logo splash screen before immediately rebooting

Over

And over

And over

Just got it back from service this evening - some telemetric module went bad and it can cause only partial updates to apply and generally cause things to go haywire.

I’ve had it happen like twice in 2 1/2 years. Scary but not really a big deal. The reboot process prioritizes getting the most vital data up first, so you’ll see your speedometer back within seconds, etc.

Same experience about a month ago. First and only time it's happened.

Ok, just not sure why it would not do it on its own when it is parked.

It happened to my Tesla once too. The only real issue I think, is that you can't see your speed. But we know that the Rivian is speed-restricted at 127. So the answer is to hold the pedal down, and when it tops out, then you will know how fast you are going.

I don't. It seemed to be totally random. I hadn't just done an update. I only do that when parked at home.

Rivian software is just generally buggy, so that's the reason.
