we have longitudinal control today per Lukas new fork. Just not set speed via right steering wheel clicks.
You are correct. I should have been more specific to say we will need a third box to set speed on the steering wheel. His newest build lets you use the Comma screen to set the speed.

Current speed is set via ACC engagement
Right but not the adjustment. Although I think in the latest build if you exceed the set speed with the accelerator, it will reset at the higher speed.

You got one right!

Plus it’s easy to engage MADS and reengage ACC at a lower speed.

I'll give that a try. I'm updating now. That's just pressing up instead of down on the stalk to engage MADS?

Total failure. The drive-ability is horrifyingly bad. Then mid-drive, the whole thing just powered off. I can run it off USB, but not in the car, just dead. WTF.

It would brake aggressively for anything that was a potential target way ahead, not natural at all. It braked a lot for seemingly nothing. I haven't figured out how to turn off MADS (keeps steering at all times), so you end up fighting it a little in parking lots. Weird feeling.

So it's a nice brick on my desk for now. I guess I should reboot the car, but other things to do right now.

Tell us more. Was this the sunny pilot build? What toggles were you using? Lukas said Experimental mode wasn't great but I haven't tested it and other people seem to like it.

I drove thousands of miles with the stock build with no issues other than a few curves that Openpilot wanted assistance with taking. But that didn't have longitudinal control. Sounds like it might be pulling too much power. When we first tested this, we were using an obd power plug. Might have to go back to that.

Sounds like you need to hook up the OBD comma power

Some commas are drawing too much power especially with forks that are doing more and you may need to install obd power to avoid this. In the meantime, if you have time I would advise plugging your comma into power in your house and installing sunnypilot/mads-tesla-prebuilt. It’s a bit more stable than Lukas new branch and will allow you to try MADS hopefully without the power glitches. Happy to help if you have additional problems.
