Just get an extended warranty through Xcare. I was able to cover my truck for an extra 10 years and 175k miles.
I'm going to hold off with hope that rivian offers one before I get to the end; if not, then that may be an option. :D

I think that my hope is not in availability of extended warrantees, but that Rivian finds a permanent fix for these drivelines that have way too high of a failure rate.

100%, that's the hope!

There is literally nothing else on the road that i'm interested outside of Rivians at this point. While I like our Tesla; my wife is very anti-Tesla these days and wants to get rid of it for an R1S... So I really need rivian to get their act together :D

Good luck with that. Running in a lower suspension setting will most likely help. Worked great on my Model S which seems to be afflicted with the same issue.

Your Model S has the knocking/rattling and handling sloppiness just like your R1T?

I driven a few and have never noticed. I do know its been reported that the Model X has some halfshaft knocking when hard accelerating on higher suspension modes.

Looks like I’m joining the “half shafts + hubs replacement” gang.

Here are the part numbers in case anyone’s interested

Sorry if you've already mentioned, but what is your vehicle spec this service was for? R1S/T? Gen1/2? Dual motor, quad?

If you wore earplugs or had the music cranked up all the way -- does yours still feel "sloppy"?

100%, yes.

However, just got my vehicle back from service yesterday. Some of my issues were due to a slow leaking left front damper. It was replaced and some of the slop is resolved along with almost all of my harshness issues.

The halfshafts are still rattling like crazy, and I swear I feel steering and footpedal vibration from them.

I think my half-shafts are quieter now than a year ago. They quiet with age, but that also means the splines are probably wearing out. I get vibration when the front end is pointed upward under high torque situations. The splines probably don't seat as flush as they did on day 1.

I'm going with it for now.... but I'll ultimately get these replaced under warranty.

Same here. And I’m pretty sure I have a slow leaking left front damper too 😒
Get that thing looked at! They can pull data from the suspension to detect even small leaks in the dampers. I'm amazed at how much 1 small leak threw off all points of driving dynamics. Its much more consistent and predictable now.

That's interesting they quiet down over time. Do you think yours is an isolated case, or have others reported this as well?

Everything
every loaner, and mine have the clicking noise in the rear. I'm pretty sure its the axles. It's easy to replicate turning and giving full throttle out of a parking lot or driveway. clicks like crazy
