What you're describing is Highway Assist. Driver+ is a suite of features which includes Highway Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control.
Yeah, I get that, but it think we're all using Driver+ colloquially to refer to Highway Assist unless I'm misunderstanding what the previous posters were discussing about portions of highway being "driver+able".

Some people refer to Highway Assist as Driver+. That isn't Driver+, it is a part of Driver+. The person you replied to is saying that Driver+ works on non-geofenced roads, which it does, and Highway Assist does not (in a roundabout way, I suppose). The person which that person replied to is using the term Driver+ to mean Highway Assist, like you're implying we all use colloquially.

Hope that clears some of that up? A good amount of posters here use Driver+ correct/incorrect and there is always some kind of debate. I guess it is subjective on what is correct.

Nah, just Windows Phone platform integration. Think Windows 8, but in a car! What more could anyone want?

After the Autonomy Day, has anyone been tracking which Autonomy+ features will be enabled on Gen 1 vehicles?

The most interesting part of this video was at 15:30, asking question about backward compatibility.

It sounded like some Autonomy+ feature will also be available on Gen 1 for free. Is that how others understood it as well?

Nothing from Autonomy + will be available for Gen 1. The only thing we're getting from Autonmy AI Day is the cloud-based version of the AI assistant.

The retrofitting they were talking about possibly happening is Gen 3 parts being retrofitted into current Gen 2 vehicles. I'm not confident even that will happen.

Gen 1 will not be getting any new ADAS updates.

@gerrylum any chance gen 1 gets lane stay on all roads? The car recognizes lanes. As long as RIVN does not block comma.ai I am OK but seems like lane stay could be possible but there is obviously more tech that I do not know how it works.

You would think the hardware is capable - I've driven 2022 Kias that could do lane centering on all roads. But I don't think Rivian is spending any more man-hours developing Gen 1 specific stuff so I'd say the chances of that are extremely low.

Rivian gave up on Gen1 a while back and the autonomy platform is for gen2 and gen3 (lidar). Gen 1 will get Rivian assistant (the AI) for texting. That’s about it.

They could make good on their original promises and upgrade Gen 1 vehicles to Gen 2 ADAS hardware like Tesla did. I mean, that would be the right thing to do. Not just say "oh well, tough luck..."
They removed that claim before any vehicles shipped to customers.

Tesla sold "the vehicle you're buying today has everything necessary to full self drive" (for multiple years before admitted they needed a hardware upgrade, which will almost certainly be necessary again, as my 2016 Model S is stuck with FSD12.)

At the time of delivery, Rivian had no such promises.
