Multi-factor authentication will be a giant NO for me. The freaking thing asks me for the key card every time I step out to check on where the receiver ball is to the trailer hitch and it takes like 30 seconds to restart the truck....

the mfa looks super convoluted, just give me pin to drive. Not excited about anything in this update. Will patiently wait for the next one. Just give us text messaging, full interior rgb control and V2H already, or maybe something useful like video to the rear screen while driving

So stoked about conditioning on demand!! This will be useful outside of charging situations - eg vehicle parked all day at pass while skiing - heat it up for regen on the way down :)

Also interested in the energy app. So count me excited about this one. (And maybe ā€˜media app stability improvements’ will mean I get my album artwork back in Tidal…)

Multi-factor Drive? Maybe, just maybe, this could be ever so slightly useful to fleet customers? Seems rather ridiculous for consumers. Is there a rampant problem of R1 car thefts or car-jackings? Why was this a priority for the software team?

Something is wrong with your truck, please put in a ticket.

Yes I could have used conditioning on demand this last weekend. We have a lot of EVCS chargers in Oregon in more rural areas with no alternative. They don’t show in nav so it would be great to be able to turn it in en route to not mapped chargers. And other situations like you mentioned would also be great.

A massive bunch of meh for me. Still waiting on launch mode for Gen1.

The most useful of the limited improvements would be battery conditioning, which I might be able to really use 1 month out of the year. Most of the rest of the year my battery temps will be at least 70F. So maybe useful for some.

Maybe along with the energy stuff, I could finally have an estimate at battery level at my destination instead of the almost totally worthless DTE.

Charging times will still suck for the trucks compared to Tesla. Thank god I never use my truck to road trip much or to tow longer distances.

I think conditioning the pack might use more energy that you reclaim on the way down unless it is a really big hill. Last time I used a supercharger, even with my pack pretty warm, it consumed 6% of my charge level on the 4 miles to the charger. I would have been better just skipping that charger, slowing down a bit, and I could have made it home. I thought I'd stop to be safe but it wasted a ton of energy. A lot more than my Teslas do to condition before supercharging.

99% of the time that somebody else is in the driver seat of my R1T (Service Center notwithstanding), the person has literally no idea how to start or drive the truck anyway.

I'm not too worried about it being stolen.
Maybe they found a security vulnerability or expect one due to the technology used, and are trying to get ahead of it.

How does MFA works with valet parking since the keyfob or key card will not work by itself?

The concept of Multi-factor Drive is a good one. Millions of phones are stolen each year and given it’s the key to your car this feature should provide added protection. How Rivian implements this may be the deciding factor for me.
