Is your charging randomly stopping?

I've been having issues with my 2025 R1S where it randomly stops charging usually around 50%. Tesla Gen 3 charger + A2Z adapter. Have had car, charger and adapter since September, this is the first time this issue appears repeatedly. Went to service center today and while checking in the driver next to me reported the same exact issue but with a different charger. My Tesla charger reports 7 red blinking LEDs which according to the manual is a "vehicle overcurrent" issue.

Is anyone else dealing with this?

The portable charger I use at home will randomly cut out and then come right back on. Sounds like a software thing.

2023 R1S: never had the problem with Tesla stations. But it happens 50% of time at Electrify America. Nowhere else that I've been.

I've used a Tesla home charger with an adapter since taking delivery of my R1S 2.5 months ago, no such problems yet.

I initially lowered the charging to 46 and 44 amps, which seemed to work till it didn’t. I’m now on 40 amps and it’s been stable for now but I worry it’s only a matter of time. Really hoping it’s just a software issue that is fixed next update.

Please report it to Rivian because the service center wasn't aware of the issue. We need to inform them in numbers so they'll look into it.

They must be changing something to do with thermal cut off. I couldnt seem to charge more than 6.5hrs before cutting out due to thermals, then last update it was all better and 100%. Now, its probably 2 hrs before it cuts out.

Mines been doing this since it’s warmed up here in AZ. I know it’s the Rivian because my Y can charge at full 48 amps with zero issues. EVER. I’ve lowered the amps to 38 and so far so good. Just takes 7 yrs to charge now lol. These Rivians hate adapters

Please report it to Rivian because the service center wasn't aware of the issue. We need to inform them in numbers so they'll look into it.

They already did that to me, BUT they might be right. Highly possible its my crappy charger.

I have had my R1T since January and had no charging issues till recently. Also if we, along with others, are having the same issue I’d say it’s probably not our chargers going bad. But it not being a Rivian charger is a good scapegoat for them.

You know the first thing to check is the connections on your adapter - that's the most likely point of failure. And check to see if your plug/adapter is heating up.

Had the same issue and got a new Tesla mobile charger. Turns out it was the RV extension cord I was using going bad. Check all your cords, adapters, and switch out until you find the culprit. Could also be the outlet itself being loose. If the vehicle or adapter sense any current leaks or abnormal voltage it will stop charging.

I have had the problem at the falls tesla charger and then Rivian takes over. I think it’s an internet connection issue if the signal drops?

Before a charging component was replaced, it would sometimes stop charging randomly when I was using a DCFC. Also would at most charge at 1/2 the max rate regardless of conditioning.
