Dear Rivian Software Team,

The only time we need to think about the energy consumption is when we are on a road trip and are trying to figure out if we have enough charge to get to the next charger. If the charger is 200 miles away, help me figure out if I am going to make it, or if I need to make an alternative plan.

It doesn't have to be exactly that graph, but it should help me answer that question. What were you thinking anyone was going to do with kwh per minute?
Speak for yourself ;) I'd like to know how my fuel is being used, regardless if I'm driving or not.

We have always had the information needed to know if the charge level will make it to the next charger. Granted it was not super accurate during the initial release but, that was updated & improved on long ago.

I believe they were thinking they would help educate owners on their battery consumption & efficiency. To capture that total and make it useable in real time, kwh/min works.

Got the update the other day, Gen2 R1S Tri, during the cloud API issues.

The energy app is really interesting on long drives I am sure will be helpful.

The pack WILL NOT be warmed up unless the truck is charging and consequently you will use range to bring it to the 50F required for driving
Well, yes. Where do you think the energy to warm it comes from? It’s not a shore power connection. The HV battery is used and the L2 charger kicks back in to bring your SOC back to your set point. This DOES NOT take half hour.

This. In the winter, I'm also manually adjusting my charging schedule so charging completes around the time I'm planning to leave in the morning. Since charging also warms the battery it ensures that it's about as warm as it's going to get. Still annoying though as other EVs I've owned had a charge for departure option so the user didn't need to calculate the charge start/end times themselves.

Based on how things have played out with updates, I bet this will happen for Rivian as well. Enough people ask for it, you can be sure it will be in a future update.

Weird that my Tesla model Y if plugged DOES warm the pack when I defrost the car no matter what is the SOC… if charging is needed it even warm the pack first BEFORE starting the charge. Some get it better for people living in real cold temperatures. 😝

Got the update yesterday. I can’t stop geeking out on new Energy app. Just another thing for me to focus on efficiency. Damn it! Haha. So far, nothing buggy. Last update required an immediate reset, and then another a couple days after that one. So far, so good!

Hope everyone is able to update and has same experience.

I am convinced that most of the people on Rivian's software team don't drive an EV.

This new drive energy graph is totally useless. Unless you are driving exactly 60mph, no one cares how much energy you are using per minute. The X axis needs to be distance, not time.

Dear Rivian Software Team,

The only time we need to think about the energy consumption is when we are on a road trip and are trying to figure out if we have enough charge to get to the next charger. If the charger is 200 miles away, help me figure out if I am going to make it, or if I need to make an alternative plan.

If for example there were rated miles consumed on the Y axis and actual miles driven on the Y, when I see I am using 1.5 rated miles to travel one actual mile I can easily multiply the distance to the charger by 1.5 and know if the guage says I have that much then I am going to make it.

It doesn't have to be exactly that graph, but it should help me answer that question. What were you thinking anyone was going to do with kwh per minute?

Also if you really want to show us the historical power, could you at least use a sane unit?. What were you thinking when you chose kWh/min over the much simpler and more standard unit of kW?
That's crazy man, what part of this is confusing exactly? You are just absolutely looking for a problem here, like always. When are you selling?
