Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
I've grown to rely on my R1T for its terrain traversing and hauling capabilities, however I have a plan in my head that I'm working out.

We currently have an R1T and MYP. I fully intend to replace the MYP with an R2, and spend time using it like I would with the R1T. I'm going to really test its hauling capabilities (long lumber, trim, etc.) using that drop down rear glass and/or fold-flat front passenger seat.

Should R2 be capable enough for what I need regularly, I'd most likely then sell the R1T for an R3X. Wife and I love it. We've always been hot hatch enthusiasts and with me personally growing up with a grandfather having a Lancia Delta stateside (Navy perks), the nostalgia really hits home for me. Plus, I'd really love to experience a tri-motor R3X. The capability sounds absolutely exhilarating to me.
I love the Lancia Delta. Those rally cars just floated over the track. Craziness!

I don’t think Rivian is doing the fold-flat front seats anymore. I think it had to do with safety regulations. Bummer, I know. Should still be able to haul quite a bit with it given the boxy rear opening and the rear seats down though.

0 - I would take delivery yesterday
1 - 2020 Model 3 that I bought used
2 - Nothing. The Model 3 is just holding us over until the R3X is available.

Question: Does anyone think that there will be an R2 lease option to hold me over until the R3X is available?

Now there's a name I havent heard in ages! Was the Lancia ever available here? Cheers.
If by here you mean the US then no, I don’t think so. It was the European Car of the Year back in 1980 and won big time at various rallying competitions back in the late 80’s/esrly 90’s. There are some cool rallying documentaries out there on YouTube. Check them out.

1. Will likely be replacing my 2017 Subaru BRZ as my Fun Car(tm).
2. Originally, I wasn't really planning on getting anything else. My 2017 Chevy Volt was working great until its EGR valve seized in late 2023, causing a short, taking out the fuse for itself and the thermostat, causing it to overheat multiple states away from home. Took GM 13 months to produce the part for that, though I figured out how to bypass that to get the car to work after a month. Stumbled across Rivian during that time and then laid my eyes upon the R3X. Will likely keep the Volt as the Boring Car(tm).

Really hoping that they have some sort of blue equivalent to the concept's green. My BRZ is fun, and I've taken it autocrossing/rallycrossing, so I hope the R3X is able to be nimble enough for such activities.

Would love to get an R3/R3X ASAP, but my wife and I just don't have the garage space, and wouldn't be giving up our R1T (we actually use it for it's truck capabilities!).

But dreaming about getting to throw that little R3 around places is pretty fun too...... I guess.

1). What would it replace? (Existing car)
R1T

2). What were you planning on getting before you saw this?
Ioniq 5 N or Ioniq 5 XRT. Funny turn of events, I am now about to lease a Ioniq 5 after turning in the R1T. Maybe once that lease is done, R3X will be out.

1.) Either a Genesis GV60 Performance or BMW i3 sport.

1) Crosstrek Wilderness. The R3X is kind of obviously the performance EV alternative to the CTW.

2) Nothing. I've been waiting for a small to medium SUV with good range and ground clearance, and none really exist yet. The Solterra is almost there but it can't tow, the range sucks, and charging is slow.

I actually just put a deposit on an R2. I'm afraid the R3X will just be *too* small. It looks like it might have less cargo space than my Crosstrek. I like smaller cars, but I'm hauling around a wife and toddler so I can probably learn to live with the size of the R2. The R3/x will probably be out for reviews by the time I'm able to buy an R2 so I'll wait to see how the reviews shake out before I decide.

My wife will be replacing her Mini Countryman JCW with an R3X.
There wasn’t another vehicle under consideration. I don’t usually plan that far that far out.
